You should be surprised and amazed like "damn he actually held on to it!", just like in real life. Madden just lacks consistency in certain areas alot of the times. It's like some things happen way too much, and some things don't happen enough. Things almost ALWAYS sound good in these write-ups though, until you get the game home for yourself after a few hours/days.
Tuning is always a major shortcoming in Madden. I think that's why they give us so many sliders with such a huge range of values. When you factor in skill sliders, penalties, priorities (if they come back), fatigue, speed, etc. there are more combinations than anyone could test in a lifetime. While I appreciate freedom, EA goes too far and gives us too many options at least in part because they can't adequately tune this game in the time they give themselves. So they punt to us and hope we can make the fumbles and drops and picks and so on happen in the right situations and proportions. I realize that "right" is not totally objective and also depends a lot on the game clock, but I do think they could come up with a better solution than to release a game in the state they always release it in.
