Re: Position changes: Will every OLB switched to DE turn into a 99OVR?

average LB? then to defend it by saying he shouldn't even respond if he thinks Houston is indeed better than mediocre?

pro bowl LB Justin Houston? the guy with 9 sacks last year on a team that rarely was in a position to rush the passer?

Justin Houston, the guy who tamba hali just said yesterday that he was so good, that he can't compete with him in sacks, that he is just that darn good?

really? I think its time you stop going off of the rating system to judge players. if you want to use it as an example that's cool, but when someone corrects you and says Houston is far beyond a mediocre player, you sit there with your head in the sand and refuse to move. why head in the sand? it has to be that way to actually think Houston is anything less than the next big thing at rush OLB.

seriously. mediocre?

hes average or mediocre?

you are freaking insane.

Re: Position changes: Will every OLB switched to DE turn into a 99OVR?

who cares if he isn't an 85! the problem is the darn rating system! so why are we going off of what players are rated? BOB SANDERS was an 82 at the season end update. an 82.

but yeah, lets judge players off of the AWFUL rating system in place that is really the problem. if they fixed the absolutely ridiculous ratings we wouldn't have to override so many cpu decisions.

Houston's rating in game should NOT be average. that is the issue. there needs to be more of a difference between him, and signing aaron curry(79 overall). but an argument CAN be made that Houston would make an amazing 4-3 end, and would possibly lead the conference in sacks.

OK, let's look at the FACTS!

-- Nobody has said/implied that the Madden ratings system is perfect or close to it.... We just have to work with what we have.

-- 9 sacks doesn't make you a incredibly above average player. (he had 10 btw)... Shaun Phillips had 9.5 and I wouldn't say he's an above average player at this point.

-- At no point was there any mention of J. Houston's potential... He could very well become a star, but as of now he'd only make the Pro Bowl because of players opting not to go.

-- Rob Ninkovich had 8 sacks last year! I don't think he'd be called a notorious player.

-- Wait, what? a teammate said his teammate was a superplayer???? That's a first!!!!

-- If average offends you, then let's agree to say he's a good player with potential. The points is in terms of Madden he shouldnt (nor should any other player) see a drastical change in OVR because of a DE/OLB position change or viceversa.

-- I think we all agree that the current ratings system is a mess but that's a whole other discussion. This thread wasn't about J. Houston's potential AT ALL, rather about how a common problem in older madden games could become a problem in the upcoming M25

Oh boy, the good old trick....

We'll answer: He's a really good player, way above average

And then he'll hit us with: Well, J. Houston had 1 more sack than Hali last year, thus Houston => Hali

It was 1 year, give it some time.

And for the last time, this is NOT a J. Houston thread!!!!! LET IT GO!
