In one of the NCAA Football games in dynasty mode I remember players could get disciplined and even suspended for bad academics and so forth. It would be cool if they could implement this in Madden in the future. Each player should have a Character rating which determines the likely hood that they will get into off the field trouble and how sever it is. Players could get fined, suspended, or even thrown in jail! for bad behavior.
Of course they would have to bring back player and team morale to represent the effect of a players behavior on the team. Would make interesting story lines and decision making if one of your best players are knuckle heads and you have to decide to keep giving them chances (while diminishing the morale of your team), trade, or just release them.

I don't understand how leagues can ban something from a video game that is part of the sport. I bet 99 percent of the people who buy Madden and NCAA Football watch the sport too, so I don't get it? You can witness this in real life but can't in a video game? They should at least have a option to turn it on or off with the default being off.

And by the way do you have a source stating that the Players Union/NFL won't allow this?

In real life, they can't control if a player is going to do something stupid to get in trouble. In a video game, they can. That's pretty much what it boils down to.

Same reason why you no longer see tattoos or helmets popping off. This is the new "kindler, gentler" NFL.

Any representation of the sport must be positive.

The only thing I can see being implemented is player holdouts for more $$$.

A "character" rating could also double as a way to determine team chemistry and add a bonus somewhere for the team in games...

Same reason celebrities go into interviews with a set range of questions you may ask. If you own an intellectual property you like to control as much of it as you can.
