Player rating owner mode

I understand that when you go in to franchise mode ratings change because of the scheme you use but what I don't get is when I'm at the depth chart in the franchise menu, player ratings are totally different when actually playing a game...why is this? Kevin Kolb is a 64 overall in the depth chart on the franchise main menu but during a game he's like a 75. Makes no sense.

They change because of your scheme but I'm wondering why the change from the depth chart when not playing to the depth chart when playing. It makes no sense to me. It's the same season so how could Kolb be a 64 when not playing but when I start a game and actually play he's a 75 overall?
