Not to mention that if VC had the money to do this, they'd do the same thing.

First let me say, yes, I do prefer ESPN over Madden. BUT I did buy Madden last year when it came out and i'll atleast give it a rental this year..... But if EA and the NFLPA make an exclusive deal, I will loose alot of respect for EA....this isnt good for the football gaming industry. And to practicly force other competeing companies like Sega/VC, and the people that make NFL Blitz to use fake players....may god have mercy on their soles.

Sorry if I am offending anybody, it's just the way I feel.

Why do all people only criticize EA? Why not the NFLPA, too?

Common sense and that this is a Business and is how a business works. It should be obvious that any intelligent company would do the same thing.

It sucks for the consumer, but this is life.... It happens every day. Large companies are always putting smaller ones out of business.

Re: EA and NFLPA Deal.

Guys, don't forget one important thing:

If EA has the exclusive rights of the NFLPA, it would make Madden the only real NFL game not only on the current consoles, but on the next generation consoles (PS3, XBox2,...), too.
The competition won't be allowed to use the names, pictures and face mappings (and possibly ratings) of the real players for at least the next 4 years (2005-2008).
So goodbye & farewell to Fever, NFL2Kx and every other Madden competition.

I will never support a company that purposely robs another up and coming great franchise like ESPN that I personally enjoy much more. It's like forcing a person to eat dog ****.

As a kid did you buy a NES and never thought about Sega? If so then maybe you should know that Nintendo did far worse things back in their heyday. In fact Nintendo did EVERYTHING they could to keep the prescence of Sega to a minimum.

They would threaten store owners that if they sold SMS' then Nintendo will stop supplying NES'. Nintendo had an exclusive deal with some of the biggest toy chains around and left Sega in the dust. Nintendo would purposely release a small number of game cartidges so that there'd be higher demand.

It's all business. EA is doing what they feel is right for them. Is it ethically right? No but you can't stop them from doing what they want.

Forget that. I won't give my money to an Extortionists Assmebly = EA. That's what I can do. I'm not selling my good conscious for a lousy excuse of a football game.

Re: EA and NFLPA Deal.

Sega already has a contract with the NFLPA for years anyway.
