Guys, ESPN is nowhere close to closing the sales gap.

I really feel this is just a complement to the decision by EA to go to XBL. Now that PS2 can no longer claim exclusive online play, they can have a Collector's Edition.

I may be wrong, but, PS2 may still get the majority of online features, and XBL just getting 1 on 1 play. What's been announced for XBL feature wise anyway?

Re: Another EA Gimmick

This is an attempt to out market ESPN because EA has weaker product. As reported earlier in these forums straight out the hores mouth when EA felt that the other company had a better product they out marketed ESPN. Sa the teory of EA being scared is not untrue but more of a over statment.

EA will outsell ESPN no matter what at this point so EA does not for SEGA but they sure don't want too many of their loyal Madden fanbase to get wise that they aren't getting the best product out there. And the best way to do so is to distract folks by bringing out a pointless feature such as this.

Re: Another EA Gimmick

personally hit stick is a bigger gimmick than a classic games collection

why map a slew of tackle animations, that most likely wont be available with the regular tackle button, when they could have been prefaced to the actual tackle button

the only reason they did this is due to espn having the right analog for juke moves...they were probably going this route, but didnt want to seem as if they were copying espn...

imo of course

Re: Another EA Gimmick

But isn't ESPN also "copying" Madden with Maximum Tackle?

Re: Another EA Gimmick

None, just talking about ESPN 2K5 having what Madden '05 also has. On that note, Madden '04 does have the control the blocker thing with the right-analog.
