Regarding the 'Every CB is a shutdown corner' argument
I have seen this on a few sites, this one included:
"Speed makes DB's in Madden, not Awareness"
I am going on record as saying this couldn't be further from the truth. I think the misconception comes from the "DB's knocking down lobs on fly routes" issue.
On a fly route, yes, awareness isn't a prevailing rating. But it shouldn't be. It isn't hard to cover a fly route. It just takes the speed necessary to keep up with the reciever. A shut-down corner is so much more than "stopping the fly route". If you take a corner with 95 speed and 75 awareness, and compare him with a corner with 85 speed and 90 awareness, the latter is going to shutdown a reciever much more than the former. Higher awareness makes it easier for a corner to cover all of the other routes, especially hitches and outs. Like ESPN's coverage attribute, it helps corners make correct breaks on balls out of the QB's hand. Test it for yourself. Edit a teams corners. Go to practice mode and play against the editted corners. Try a variety of routes against them, and watch to see which corner is more effective.
Just getting that off my chest, as last year's game, where the 'speed cheat' was dominant on All-madden mode, is not this year's game. I have found no evidence of a speed cheat on All-Madden thus far. And the game, while still using speed as a main aspect, is not a speed dominated game, as last year's was.
