I knew it....Madden to hit Arcades

EA did have a arcade mode for Madden 2000 for the PC. It was OK but at the time it felt like they really cheesed up the game 100 fold after playing several games online. They took the arcade mode out since.

But I do feel you on being abandoned as a sim player. From EA interviews this year I have shifted my thinking about Madden that it isn't for true sim or anything close to that. I do feel that EA led me to believe this wasn't the case for a good stretch of the series. It has helped in putting the two football games out there in perspective. Since last year I admittedly have not picked up or played Madden because I am in a different football playing mode now. Madden just doesn't give me those feelings of football anymore but surprisingly it continues to appeal to the greater number.

Thas a good idea by EA way to expand your business and profits to the out skirts of the world, by putting a mod out in arcades. Absolute Genius

A bunch of people have said that arcades are dead, and i completely agree. But from what I would imagine EA is not looking at the arcade market. There looking at sports bars and places that have games like Golden Tee. Golden Tee is huge around the country and EA is probably trying to capitalize on that demographic. EA is trying to expand a great name and a great multiplayer game.

Madden these days is a multiplayer game. Get used to it. Why do you think Madden is more popular than ESPN on college campuses and why is the Madden challenge so popular. All of you people who complain about the computer AI and everything else get some friends and play this game the way it is meant to be played.

IMO the only thing that would cause EA to neglect aspects of next yr's version is their work on getting madden ready for next-gen consoles. And if thats the case then you really can't blame them for being more concerned with having Madden prep'd for the launch of next gen consoles moreso than Madden 06.

If they apply the renderware technology (graphics, physics, ai, audio) to Madden 07...watch out. I have a feeling they might tryout some of the next-gen technology with Madden 06...same as VC did with the Triple Pass Rendering techniques they used on nfl2k5 this yr. But who knows. Should be interesting to see what happens.

As for this yr's Madden, Its not a perfect game by any means but IMO its alot more sim than people give it credit as being. Personally I'm enjoying Madden 05 alot...much more than previous versions.

Turns out they are using the CPU Madden '04 version and EA is just working in conjunction with another company. If you read the article it makes it pretty clear that EA has little to do with this. This arcade version will have absolutley no effect on future versions of Madden (eg. Madden becoming less sim and more arcade like).
