Candyman56's Review of Madden Wii

I have posted my review over at NLG for Madden Wii. 86/100

http://www.nlgaming.com/nl/asp/id_15...reviewDisp.htm

The Bottom Line
With the graphics aside, this has to be the best version of Madden this year due to the control factor. Granted the control is busted in some areas, it really has added a new way of playing football. I think that come with Madden ’08, if EA can fix the issues with the control on the defensive side, kicking, and possibly taking the PS3/360 graphics engine but downscaling it to Wii specs, this game could be the Sports Game of the Year. It all rests on EA if they want to take Madden to the next level.

Re: Candyman56's Review of Madden Wii

Nicely written review. Everytime I see people playing the Gamecube version of Madden in an EB Games, I'm surprised at how much better it looks compared to it's next-gen brother (I have the PS2 & 360 versions). Looks really smooth from a gameplay standpoint and the flat screen makes the graphics look functional and crisp.

But "potential Sports Game of the Year" in 2008? Basically, a prettier version of current gen Madden should garner SGOTY consideration? It's your opinion, but would think expectations should be a little higher than that.

Well, a lot higher actually

Thanks. I think that for Madden 2008 to be "SGOTY in '08", they need to tighten up the controls offensively and deensively, but more so on the defensive end. Then they have to look at how kicking the ball could be improved since it's a pain nailing field goals alone. Lastly, they need to do something about the graphics engine. If they use the same engine that their using in Madden '07, expect them to lose sales and forget about possible "SGOTY". This is a new generation and expectations are high. I EA really wanted to, they can take the PS3/360 graphics engine to downscale to the Wii like I stated in the review. It won't look anywhere as pretty as the 360/PS3, but they are giving us something new.
