does this game seriously crash the game systems?

i was over at ea's forum and i read the freezing thread they have, and multiple people were complaining about madden actually crashing their systems, having to send theirs in to sony/microsoft for warrantied ones. my madden is constantly freezing lately, so should i just stop playing and return my copy, or is it safe to play it without my system crashing?

(my original PS3 crashed when NHL 08, another EA game, froze on me once...so i really can't afford to have my warrantied PS3 go down too)
