Great question on why certain things aren't shared between NCAA and Madden.

NCAA Football 10 had progressive lighting but not protak.Madden 10 had protak but no progressive lighting.NCAA Football 11 upgrades progressive lighting and adds protak along with locomotion, blocking assignments even Gameplan/Gameflow(seen it in the videos).Madden 11 upgrades protak and adds locomotion, blocking assignments and Gameplan/Gameflow.
Why...Just WHY! are certain features/gameplay additions not all shared between the 2 games? I still don't understand how NCAA can have progressive lighting when Madden had a 1 year head start on PS3/XBOX 360. Same with Dread locks in Madden but not in NCAA.

Confuses me.

I've always wondered this aswell. They need to work with each other.

...you know nobody here is going to be able to actually answer this, right? The thread is probably just going to degenerate into naming things Madden is missing, which may be the point in creating it; I don't know.

But since you're asking...I, personally, do not know the answer to your question.

It's one thing I've never understood either. They should be producing one football game that is configurable, and then configuring it for NCAA and the NFL. That doesn't seem to be the case however. It's very strange, and seems like there's a lot of duplicate work (waste $$$, time, & resources) that goes on at EA.

If the games are too similar then they fear people will only buy one game instead of two, which is less money for them.

Re: Great question on why certain things aren't shared between NCAA and Madden.

Wait -- is TLC saying he saw Gameflow in one of the NCAA vids? LOL.

I don't have an exact answer but I have my own speculations. They have to make these experiences unique in order for each game to sell on its own. Perhaps if the games are too similar, many fans will be satisfied with just owning one of the games. Shoot, most people wouldn't have the time to effecitively run both a dynasty and a franchise. Plus, I think there is something to be said for NCAA needing to offer something Madden does not have and vice versa.

Without thinking of the sales ramifications, I do wish the games were much more similar. I think that's part of the reason why I have NEVER bought a NCAA game. It's not that the gameplay is all that different, but it can sometimes be different enough that I don't want to play it. Take Gameflow for example: if I fall in love with it, I'm not going to want to play NCAA without it. Or say NCAA has better equipment options for example; that'll have me look down upon Madden in some ways.

Overall, I think EA's marketing scheme is to share some things, but differentiate others. For a sometimes picky gamer such as myself, those differences are what steer me away from picking up both games.
