My friend says that "Slot Cross" is a glitch play-- is he right?

It's a good play for long-yardage situations, and it's become my money play for anywhere from 3rd and 8 to 3rd and 15. It's somewhat easy to just hit the slot receiver comin across the middle for a big gain. If it's man coverage, he usually beats his defender by about half a step (which is enough), and if it's zone, you can just squeeze it between the defenders.

It does work a lot more often than I'd like, but I don't think it's actually a glitched play.

I can't tell you how many times I've picked off that play, or any crossing/slant route like that. They're effective, but certainly not unstoppable/money.

I played against someone last night and he completed a pass for a long gain in the same area where the slot receiver ends up in Slot Cross. I'm wondering if this was the play they used.

That is the way that they programmed the defenders to play. You are not taking advantage of some situation that was unforeseen by the programmers.

how is that an unforeseen situation though??

i dont understand how they release a game with this man holes and glitches and **** and then charge $60 for it. i mean i dont think they even tested the game before they released it.

I actually have to avoid using it now... but I have to avoid using half the playbook, anyway, so what's one more play.

Exactly. I've also considered not using the play at all.

It does well against man 2, cover 3 and cover 4.

It struggles against cover 2 and cover 1, unless you can land the deep streak.
