What Has Been Done to RB Slant Routes?

In under center plays and shotgun, when you hotroute the RB to a slant, he WALKS straight forward until he is about 5 yards past the LOS, then cuts out on his slant.

If this is intentional, it might be the most ridiculous thing Ive ever seen in Madden. RB slants arent even an exploit at all. They get bumped plenty when theyre run, its not like he's always going to have a free release to the outside.

This tactic was a SAVIOR against people who spam you with bump n run man coverage nanos all game. Why would anyone in their right mind think that this was a logical "fix" to anything in the game? It most certainly isnt. If you want to make drastic gameplay changes fix the piss poor o-line and take out the ability to rocket catch with the right stick.

Flats are piss poor coverage, might as well break slant outs by the R/B. Right...

Re: What Has Been Done to RB Slant Routes?

100% correct....lets look back at some of the other dumb band aids that have been put on problems in Madden instead of finding a way to fix it....
The Rocket Catch-took out the ability to strafe on offense for 09, which people still found a way around by just moving down with the left stick(and now the right stick in Madden 10).

Ignored Logical Solution-look to the ps2 version and see how the RC was COMPLETELY EXTINCT after Madden 06. It was done before so why not now with better tech?

Sprinting backwards with the QB-bandaid this with auto-drop back(taking away control from the user and making the QB a HUGE SITTING DUCK for nanos)

Ignored Logical Solution-make any pass thrown immediately after sprinting backwards be terribly inaccurate.

Nanos-on ps2 they took away the ability to change a defenders blitz angle(which actually worked but this is still just a bandaid)

Ignored Logical Solution-expand on the pass blocking options the user has...like "Protection Spotlight" for starters, Madden NEEDS THIS!!!

This is no surprise. They did the same thing in NCAA10 to "fix" the problem. It's ridiculous.

This is my biggest gripe with madden. Watching guys online roll 10 yards back word throwing off their back foot across their body accurately 30 yards downfield

Re: What Has Been Done to RB Slant Routes?

Im all for a realistic balanced game.....but this HB walking thing is just ridiculous. It doesnt even contribute to a balanced game at all.....HB slant routes arent the way that people are abusing the flats. All this has done is give the offense one less option in a game where the defensive pressure is already over the top and ridiculous.

Lol.. that's how you address an issue in a patch I just tried it and it looks awful - major bug!

I had an issue with passive DBs in my first game with the new patch. Two times they wouldn't defend the pass when it was thrown straight at them. They would just position themselves and do nothing.
