Report: EA buys Super Bowl ad time

For Dante's INFERNO! Seems like if EA was going to do that it would be for a football video game and not this crap. The Super Bowl is a football game, not the History Channel.

Dante's Inferno does look good. Only downer for me on the game after playing the demo was their choice to use cartoons (thing bugs bunny) for the cut scenes. The game deserves better.

The Super Bowl will be watched by millions of non-football fans. Why would EA spend the amount of money a Super Bowl ad costs on a game everyone has heard of? Plus, the Super Bowl marks the end of the season, and I'm sure a drastic decline in sales of Madden.

On the other hand, Dante's Inferno has had some mixed reviews, with some liking it, and some not so much. A 30 second spot on the super bowl will probably deliver a serious uptick in sales. In addition, the marketing of Dante's Inferno has on the extreme side, so I imagine EA is trying to create an ad that will generate some conversation after the game. Maybe a politician will see it and lambaste the game because of its extreme sex and violence.

The goal is for EA to make money, not make sports gamers feel good about their hobby.
