Madden Embargo?

Am I the only one who thinks that it is strange that some of the OS staff were invited to a "hands on" event and can't discuss ANY aspect of the game at all until a few days before the game releases. I have been following Madden for many years and I don't recall this happening previously.

My intention is not to bash the folks at EA but this does raise concerns for me about the game.

No, it's typical for virtually every single game made. Don't waste your time reading anything into it.

There was another thread like this earlier on this same subject. But embargo just a normal thing for any game company. EA had a embargo on NCAA football 11 about 4 days before release. But NCAA 11 turned out to be a good game. So embargo really doesn't mean anything bro. EA ain't hiding nothing from us. That's pretty much the way gaming companies do things now adays.

For bpth games, the embargo is late this year. It is odd.

It's not just games... It's cars, watches, dish detergent, hand bags, airplanes, stereos, etc. Every industry that has a PR department uses embargoes when dealing with releasing information to the 'press.' Naturally, when the press is informed about a product or service that has not been released, they will be privy to information that a company does not want mentioned until a time of the companies choosing...

Since companies are under no obligation to allow members of the press access, members of the 'press' agree to refrain from releasing information tha tcompanies expressly ask them NOT TO. Releasing embargoed information can cause specific members or entire press organizations to risk a blackout.

Happens wherever business is conducted and the press is informed.

Doubtful, it's nothing but a 'hype' tactic to generate anxiety and crave for the game. It's a tactic apple uses all the time to get customers to purchase their items. Expect NOTHING new to come from this 'embargo' except increased hype.
