how to download patch (PS3)

Sorry to sound ignorant (I'm new to PS3), but can some one tell me how to download patches. from what i understand is that there are already patches available for madden 09, and i have no clue how to download them. when i popped in my disc for the first time, i didn't get an automatic download or anything. Is there a menu that need to go to in the game, or what?

As far as I know there hasn't been any patches yet, as the game technically hasn't even been released.

First patch is scheduled for the 11th, I believe anyway.

gameplay patches haven't been released yet. But once they are released, so long as you are connected online (to the PSN) the game will prompt you to download the patch.

Hi guys! I've been having a problem with the online gaming with my ps3. I was playing PURE last week when the console just shut down, and when i turned it back on, the internet will not download latest software updates. i have fifa 08 and 09, and when i try to play these games online, the console simply will not load the game.
i have also noticed, that if i have a game still in the console from a previous night, it wont load automatically anymore as it used to 2 weeks ago! Instead now i have to eject the game when the screen loads, and retry every time!
any hints or clues to help me out guys???? thanks

have you updated your PS3 firmware... if you can't because you can't get online.... follow this step process using a USB memory card or other flash memory card.

this means that your laser is probably going bad on your PS3.. mine was doing this and it may have been just coincidence but i remember that if i blew in the slot where the BD goes into when there wasnt a game in it sometimes this would help it load better for a week or so then id have to do it again.. eventually my ps3 died but i think it was for the same reason.. i just think it wore its self out because i noticed the fan had been running a little harder for about a month or so before i finally got the yellow light of death!! now i have a broken 60gig collecting dust in my closet!! anyone wanna buy it??? LoL
