Stop Blamimg Gamers, EA Is The Cause

I have noticed numerous posts and threads insinuating that Madden is fine and gamers are just too critical. It should go without saying that there are always extremes, those who will praise or hate Madden regardless. However, reasonable gamers that don't enjoy Madden have valid points, like reasonable gamers that do enjoy the game.

If Midway had bought the NFL exclusive license and the only NFL game available was NFL Blitz, I wouldn't be in the NFL Blitz forum complaining about how "unsim" the game is. EA markets Madden towards sim gamers, so they expect it to deliver.

Im not talking about some perfect game wishlist, Im talking about the basics. The things that are already in the game but just dont work correctly. Pressing the button to become the closest defender, defensive assignments, IR, multi-hit tackles, defensive AI, O-line blocking, online franchise, online ranked games and Extra Point Show.

If you are a gamer that's enjoying Madden, EA is the cause and deserves the credit. Likewise, if a gamer is not enjoying Madden, EA is also the cause and deserves the blame.

i put just as much blame on the nfl, as well as the ones who blindly defend the game as a masterpiece fueling the fire for ea can continue taking the game in...whatever direction it seems to be going in. at this point, i don't know what that direction is. plays like blitz, feels like hockey...looks like the nfl and lacks any kind of depth and atmosphere.

i don't put it on the dev's though, its been clear the game is just milking the market dry while it still can. so until that market changes, i don't expect madden to at all. for now all i feel i can do is offer suggestions to appease my naive hopes that someone might read and consider...but i don't count on it, at least it feels like i did something though.

I don't put any blame on the NFL; they did what's best for them financially. I blame EA. There the company that has produced sub-par titles year after year, and the sales prove it. In 2005, when they had competition, they sold around 8 million copies of madden; last year they sold 5 million. They have that hefty licensing fee also. I doubt they're making a profit at this point.

I blame EA for paying so much for the exclusive license that they can't afford to invest actual money on development. That's why Madden is in the state that's it's in.

Exactly. Until we stop purchasing this game by the millions, EA has no reason to put forth the effort to correct all it's short comings.

A. These threads never go over too well trying to point a finger at a poster or other posters.
B. Isn't easier to ignore such post vs starting a thread and pointing fingers?
C. Isn't easier to put the person/persons on ignore vs starting a finger pointing thread?
D. I would take issue that EA markets the game to the sim market, this year they tried to market it to everyone, ie, simpler, deeper, richer slogan.
E. I only agree with your last paragraph.
