No Ortiz Shift?

I was just talking about this on the other board and figured i'd post it here. Why hasn't 2k implemented certain shifts by now? Here's a clip of ortiz at bat and there doesnt appear to be any situational shift in place except just a right shift.

Probably because they have a lot more important things to iron out.

Re: No Ortiz Shift?

Look at the situation. You have 1 out with a runner on first. It looks like they are playing for the double play to get out of the inning. If they get him to roll over on one, the second baseman cannot turn it from the outfield.

In the gamespot video, it's a user pitching, so he should have to manually move his infield (you are also the manager in this game, so I don't think the computer should manually shift your defense...they don't warm up pitchers, put in pinch hitters, etc.).

In the IGN video, it could be a few factors. As Nemesis said, it's a double play situation, you also have a lefty on the mound who throws some heat(I don't pay attention, but do defenses usually put the shift on with against hard throwing lefties? Also with runners on base?).
