Famous last words.
Update on my Orioles Franchise (Year 3):
So I'm in the World Series against Cincinatti. Their lineup is
sick. Well, their top 6 are anyway. You have to get down to the 7 spot before you come across a hitter with less than 25 HRs.
Game 1 against the NL Champion Reds was
Paul Malholm vs.
Aroldis Chapman.
Chapman's fastball should be illegal.
After working a long first inning and drawing 3 walks (capped with a
Mark Reynolds 3 RBI double) I thought I was off to an easy game. Unfortunately, Malholm gave the 3 runs right back in the top of the 2nd.
It stayed 3-3 until the 8th inning when the Reds scored on a sac fly, giving them a 4-3 lead. In the ninth they added a solo HR.
I thought I was going to come back when I had 1st and 3rd with no one out against the Reds converted-starter-now-closer,
Homer Bailey. Unfortunately,
Josh Bell lined out to 2nd for the first out.
Felix Pie followed that up by swinging at a curveball in the dirt for the K (2nd out) and
Vladimir Guerrero was thrown out straying too far from 3rd to end the game.
I'm down 1-0 in the World Series, but I'm still holding out hope that my quoted post above doesn't become a legendary example of overconfidence.
