Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

Started a franchise with my hometown Royals...

I'm five games (accidentally simmed one) and so far I'm 4-1.

Last game had Chen pitching at home against the Blue Jays (Brandon Morrow Starting). Chen had a good outing, allowed five hits and one run through 6 1/3 before I pulled him.

Louis Coleman came in and gave up a two run double in the top of the 8th. I'm down 3-1 in the bottom of the eighth. Bring in Kottaras to hit for Perez (wanted the extra power) and he flies out. John Mayberry (the only trade I've made) comes up and grounds out to first. Escobar comes up and after about 6 pitches manages to hit one right between Emilio Bonifacio and Encarnacion. Gordon is behind him and singles right between 2nd and 3rd; Escobar moves to 3rd. Hosmer comes up; at this point he has a .200 average and only one extra base hit, but he manages to sail his first HR of the season into the Blue Jays bullpen 408 ft away. Holland comes in to close out the 9th on a pop fly and two strikeouts.

Have a really fun time with this franchise so far. Only loss came to the Halladay led Phillies (I've sucked against Halladay in every MLB game I've played).

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

I got started finally with my Royals. I made a couple of Spring Training moves, mainly dealing away Hochevar and Francouer to acquire Jimmy Paredes from the Astros to play RF. I can't stand Hoch or Frenchy so I was glad to see them go.

      Starting rotation
      James Shields
      Danny Duffy
      Felipe Paulino
      Wade Davis
      Ervin Santana

      Lineup
      Alex Gordon - LF
      Alcides Escobar - SS
      Eric Hosmer - 1B
      Billy Butler - DH
      Mike Moustakas - 3B
      Sal Perez - C
      Jimmy Paredes - RF
      Lorenzo Cain - CF
      Getz/Gio - 2B

I moved Chen to long relief.

      Game 1 - Royals 5-White Sox 1
Shields went the complete game giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 7.
All 5 runs came in the top of the 4th where Escobar had a 2-RBI single, Butler had a 2 run blast and Sal had a solo shot.

Bring out the bats! I (ATL) swept Miami with 7 12 and 8 runs in each game. Series MPB is Justin Upton going 8-12 with 4 RBI's and a steal

Game 3 of Spring Training: O's vs. Yanks

Beat the Yanks 6-0 with Chris Tillman going 4.0, giving up 1 hit with 6 strikeouts.

Player of the game was Alexei Casilla - went 1-3 with a 2-run triple in the 3rd inning. Home runs by Adam Jones (2 run) and a solo shot by Chris Davis.

          O's - 6 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks
          Yanks - 0 runs on 3 hits, 1 walk

Playing All-Pro difficulty with the AI Pitcher speed at 100. My pitch meter at 100. May need to move up to the next difficulty level. Then again, it could be that I'm just not used to winning so easily with the O's.

            Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue with the rosters when I start my franchise mode. I have the rosters where they need to be with every team. When I go into starting a franchise and look at the rosters they somehow get readjusted to something crazy. It wont let me set standard rosters for the computer teams unless I am playing them then I can edit.
What I'm trying to say is for example. Franchise mode rosters suck. any way that I can fix that issue. Is it a setting or something that I'm over looking? for instance Brian McCann is sitting the bench and Miguel Cabrera is playing first base and Torii Hunter is playing second base. How can i fix it?
I have tried setting the roster, then save the roster and enter franchise mode. Anyone else having this issue??? Please help!! Thanks!!

When you start a franchise you select under team control: 30.

Also turn off all Auto Manage or CPU Control settings, or something like that.

This allows you total control of your franchise

I have tried that, but I wont be able to manage my team with injuries and such if I put it on auto. When I have full control it takes forever with all of the injuries and such. I want to be able to have a roster that I can upload into franchise mode. That is it. Then play it like normal. Any help??

Again turn off any AUTO settings. Secondly either turn injuries OFF or if you leave it ON Lower the Injury Slider in the Franchise Menu to 10

I may start one tonight. I moved the 360 into our living room. I am trying to eliminate the basement from my life. It's bad for my health I think. So, I have to wait for the wife to fall asleep.

I'm with you there. But let's just say that sometimes, that might not be as good for your health, either.

                          Game 4 - O's vs. Nats

Jacked the difficulty to Legend. Definitely made a difference in the total hits, but still won 6-3.

Put up an early run due to a walk and two hits. Held that lead until the top of the 7th. Brought in Bundy to get some work and he gave up back-to-back solo shots.

However, game MVP Manny Machado jacked a 3-run shot after a Wieters single and a Chris Davis double to take a 2-run lead in home half of the 7th. Steve Pearce belted a pinch-hit homer in the 8th.

Arrietta got the start and may have lost his shot at the #5 starter. No runs allowed but allowed two walks and a hit and struggled to find the strike zone. It appears that the battle will come down to Britton and Bundy.

                          UPDATE:

Camp battles: McLouth in left with Reimold platooning at DH with Betemit. Britton nailed down the 5th starter. Unfortunately, JJ Hardy is on a rehab stint in AAA so Betemit is playing 3rd with Machado at SS. JJ should only miss 4 games.

Started the regular season. Interestingly enough, I lost all the games I simmed in Spring Training & won all that I played.

First game of regular season (simmed) - a 6-0 win at the Blue Jays. Nice game by Jason Hammell & Wieters hit two homers.

Game 2 - vs. the Twins (NOT simmed.) Lost 3-1. Pelfrey for the Twins was dealing. I got to him in the 4th for a homer (Adam Jones), a couple of two-out singles, and walk. His pitch count was high and even the announcers mentioned that he looked gassed. Well, that changed in the fifth. He went 7 2/3 and gave up 6 hits, 2 walks, and 1 run. My starter Wei-Yin Chen pitched well - gave up 1 run on 8 hits through 7 1/3. Darren O'Day gave up a two run shot for the difference on the scoreboard.
(Playing on Legend settings with pitch meter speed at 100 and AI pitcher speed at 100).

I hope a have a better season this go around. I'm going to go with the The New AL West Team Houston Astros. GOAL is to break WIN record 55 wins from last year 2012 season. I really have liked the Astros in the early 90's, should be fun trying to make them a contender.

Second is try and keep up with the high power offensive jugernuts, Rangers and Angels. My first move is going to try and add some power FA and bring Fear the Beard BW aboard since he is just hangin out there and really never really used him in games only faced him.

I'm trying to make this a fun game this year - make some trades and not loose interest the first week. - Here I go - this going to be a struggle!

I'll most likely go ahead a and do a HALO chise like always end up doing but not right now.

Update after a fews hrs of really getting into 2k13 last night, I jumped right into Franchise mode with the Astros. Spring Training 2013 Cactus League. Game 1.

Houston we have a problem. First off Bo Porter (manager) actually looks like Curt Schilling in the game...LOL.

I need some help on finding a power bat. Any Ideas, Besides Pena and he is at his prime, I need a spark to keep up with AL west power teams. The Astros have face a lot of AL teams first time and it will be tough to getting any offense going. I want to stick with this team. A few pieces will make a big difference I think. Don't have a lot of budget. So might need to trade away big dollar contracts.

I need help with pitching too. I need a close to 80 plus rating pitcher on my staff.
I felt like it was fun to get Fear the Beard signed. I gave him a 2 year 2 million contract. I feel he got a bad wrap from only playing 2 games due to injury in 2012 from San Fran. he is still young at 30 and his very good IMO. So I gave him the bonus of 1 million to be my closer.

I'm pretty sure Kyle Lohse is a FA and rated 88. Not a long term solution, but would help you get to the trading deadline and then trade him for prospects.

Don't know too much about power bats out there. Lots of over-the-hill guys. Past their prime, but may help.
