Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

Steeler that's excatly what i was thinking. I might bring El Caballo (Carlos Lee back to Houston and have him DH for the rest of his MLB career. That move would give me some power and another alternative to Carlos Pena.

Working though spring training and then 162 game season. I should snag Lohse the rotation to help battle the AL Pitchers. I need some guys to produce or this season will go no where.

I can always do the Created a Stud Player. Might all well do MY PLAYER - which I don't want to resort to that option just yet.

Any other ideas let me know. - What franchise are you running again'....I'm glad baseball is back - i love my angels - but there way to good - I want a challenge, built a team up to a winner.

I've been an orioles fan forever so I'm going to enjoy playing with a decent Baltimore squad for the first time since the Playstation 1 days.

I'm ready for some real hardball too!

Btw - maybe you could sign Andruw Jones or Bryan Lahair. Especially, Lahair - he's only 30 so he could help for a few years. The other thing I like to do is go through the minor league systems of all the teams and sort for high potential prospects (4 or 5 stars) with an upward trend. Then try to trade higher rated older players for their prospects.

        Giants.
Signed Loshe and moved Zito to LR.
Signed Wilson and put him as the setup man.
Called up Stanton from the farm system...and by that I mean indirectly traded Pence for Stanton.

Simming decided to make Wilson the closer and eventually get Blanco and Torres stuck in the minors along with wrecking all my lineups.

Some point during the season the Jays traded Encarnacion and Reyes to the Sawx for Ellisbury and Pedrioa. Towards the end Boston had the second wild card spot then lost 13 straight.

In some possible impressive foresight the Yankees finished last in the east.
Mariners were hanging around for a playoff spot. A's finished last in that division.

Only award I remember is the NL Cy Young going to Mat Latos with a 17-3 record and 2.5ish ERA.

        Playoffs were:

        NL
Reds over Dodgers in the Wildcard

        Reds over Brewers
        Giants over Braves

        Giants over Reds

        AL
Tigers over Angels (I think) in the Wildcard

        Rangers over Tigers
        White Sox over Jays

        Rangers over White Sox

Giants over Rangers (Only sweep of the playoffs)

One thing I hate is limited faces in game- i feel this year the graphics are updated -looks really good on my tv and player faces look good but Astros Roster are full of generic faces. I guess I'll just have to live with that if i want to continue the franchise.

Started a cubbies chise, I'm 1-1 and lost Edwin Jackson for 2 weeks with a strained bicep. I also simmed the spring.

Going to try and start up a franchise soon. The one thing I absolutely love about this franchise are the player ratings at each position, hot and cold streaks, etc. I love how a player's value can increase or decrease based on performance. I've had guys who were in the high 80's dip to the high 70's due to poor play. I love it

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

Going to dive in on this thread as I can see myself playing several in game years with this Indians team. As stated picked Indians on default sliders. Ill post as series go and give updates on things I see..

Starting out made no moves before the season and jumped in to game one. First game was Jimenez vs. Dickey. Game was a pitchers dual all the way. I could not hit Dickeys knuckle ball to a gap at all. Game went into the 9th 0-0 Dickey holding a perfect game. As we got to the bottom of the 9th I left Jimenez in to try and keep it going. Toronto got a runner to 3rd and with pressure mounting and 1 out I threw a wild pitch and lost the game 1-0 giving Dickey his perfect game.

Game two we were out for blood. Masterson pitched decent and long story short won 6-3. Santana, Reynolds and Swisher were making sure they got on base!

Game 3 was another epic game. I realized before the game I wanted more power and signed Andruw Jones to be pitch hitter, reserve outfield role. Cut Giambi and also signed a second baseman with 5 star potential for my A club... Anyway to the game. My pitcher got shelled quickly and went down 4-1. Behind Jones power we came back in the 4th tied it 4-4. Then went up in the sixth 5-4 off another Jones bomb. The bottom of the 6th they score and tie it 5-5. I remove the pitcher for middle relief (dumb move). In the 8th Jones is back up and hits his third HR with a runner on to go up 7-5. I put in Perez, probably a bad idea after playing him the day before. He is facing Cabrerra, Bautista and Encarcion. Cabrerra gets on with his hot bat and Bautista smacked his first HR of the series to tie the game. Got out of the inning. Took it to 11 where I lost on a line drive that brought in the runner from first.

So I'm 1-2 on the year and having a lot of fun. Bourne is really struggling, but otherwise bats are hitting well after the perfect game against me. Will update after the Rays game with more.

Guys don't forget to lower the injury slider to 10 or 15 MAX. If your gonna keep injuries on during franchise. This will help give you somewhat more realistic injury rates during franchise

So in the first game in my series vs. the Rockies, Hunter Pence (traded HP and a prospect for Dexter Fowler) gets his 1,000th hit. A banner comes up saying "MILESTONE 1,000 career hits"

The next game he went 0-4 and after every out he made, it would bring up the banner thing that says 1,000th hit.

Nothing huge just a little annoying seeing it every time.

I may just give him a hit so it stops popping up!

Game 6 of my 54 game season. O's v. Dodgers.

Dodgers take early 1-0 lead on back-to-back doubles off of starter Wei-Yin Chen.

I take the lead in the 3rd on a 2-run shot from Chris Davis off of Clayton Kershaw.

Three innings later Chris Davis hits another 2-run jack to extend the lead to 4-1.

O's hold the lead on an excellent outing from Chen - 7 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk, and 6 k's.

Then.....Tommy Hunter comes in and gives up two runs in only 2/3 of an inning. I bring in Jim Johnson, the closer and he gets the final out of the 8th. O's lead 4-3.

I can't scratch anything across in the bottom of the 8th. So, I bring JJ out to close out the game. He gives up the tying run on a single, stolen base, and another single.

In the bottom of the 9th, tied 4-4. Wieters on first after a single, two outs and guess who at the plate?

Yep, Chris Davis. Yep. Another souvenir! Walk-off 2-run dinger to right center - 409 feet!

The crowd went bananas. Gary Thorne just about croaked and I felt like it was a real game!

Best game so far. Tons of drama in the late innings. Clutch performances on both teams, and a walk-off to top it all off.
Btw - Chris Davis went 4-4, single, 3 homers, 6 RBIs, and 3 runs scored.

                        EPIC!

My Braves are now 7-3 on the year and on a 5 game winning streak. Last game vs. the Nats included 8 k's by Huddy and a 3-4 game from JUpton with 3 RBI and a steal in a 5-0 win.

Currently 4-2 with the Jays. Lost to the Indians and another to the Tigers( Couldn't get anything going against Verlander) Only trade I made so far was David Cooper for Martin Maldonado. Maldonado has high catching ratings which I like. This opens the door for Arencibia to be move to DH or trade with in a package with Lind.

Hey! I started a franchise with the Reds, started off with trading one of my 5 star potential minor leaguers and got Dylan Bundy out of it and put him in relief, and had Chapman starting off. Rough bump losing the first two games of the year from Mike Trouts home run saving ability and my lack of hitting. But since then have won 9 straight games, and all barely winning, had a couple of 17 inning games, and walk offs to do it. Everything is going our way right now. Homer Bailey pitched a perfect game against the Pirates and moved chapman back to the closing role and Bundy is now starting and had his first start to sweep the pirates and had a strong 6 inning outing only giving up one run. I'm loving this team.

@RedsCountry - as an O's fan I'm curious what Baltimore got in return for Bundy. Was it a position player? If so, which position? Also, what level of the minors was he in?
