Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

Just finished my Indians vs. Rays series and I think this could have 162 game potential.

Game 1 was a 6-3 win from the Indians. Making up for the loss against the Jays the bats went off. Had 16 hits and several quality at bats.

Game 2 Dice-K struggled losing composure quickly. I benched Santana to try and help fatigue which took my best bat out of the line up. Lost the game 4-0 with only three hits. Just couldn't run the starter out of the game and really struggled when he got going.

Game 3 was the finale of this series. The #1s were on the mound, yet the ump played a huge role in this game. Just couldn't find the strike zone and the ump was calling everything balls that was close! I was down 1-0 in the 8th when Price finally got gassed and with Bourn on base got a hit from my back up catcher who scored Bourne from 1st. They put the reliever in to face Andruw Jones when I took first pitch deep to go up 3-1. In the 9th scored 1 more and won the game 4-1.

Bourn is finally going, Santana is hitting like a man possessed and I'm horrible with Drew Stubbs. If someone has any help for him please let me know. I also have noticed when new pitchers come in for the computer either the pitch has been a ball or a fat hittable pitch? Anyone else notice this?

Took 2 of 3 from the Nats and now 8-4 and a half game ahead of Was. JUpton up to a 360+/- and Heyward is down to 160 but with his first homer and RBI. Took game one from the Royals with a 5-0 win. Minor with a 4 hit shutout and a 3 RBI game by Freeman.

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

Time to get in on this since I was finally able to start my franchise. Playing as the Seattle Mariners. I am playing the first 2 games of each series and simming the final game (or final 2 in the case of the rare 4 game set).

        At Oakland: M's win 3 of 4
        Game 1
        SEA - 3 / 7 / 0
        OAK - 2 / 8 / 0
        WP - F Hernandez (1-0) 8 IP / 6 H / 2 ER / 1 BB / 8 K SAVE - T Wilhemson (1)
        LP - R Cook (0-1) SP - B Anderderson 7 IP / 5 H / 2 ER / 3 BB / 5 K
        HR's - SEA : J Montero (1), J Smoak (1) B Ryan (1)
Notes - Odd game with all 3 Seattle runs coming on solo HR's. Brenden Ryan breaks a 2-2 tie with a surprising 9th inning wall scraper. M. Saunders goes 2-4.

        Game 2
        SEA - 6 / 10 / 0
        OAK - 3 / 6 / 1
        WP - J Saunders (1-0) 7 IP / 4 H / 2 ER / 2 BB / 7 K
        LP - B Colon (0-1) 4 IP / 7 H / 6 R / 5 ER / 1 BB / 4 K
        HR's - SEA : D Ackley (1), M Saunders (1) OAK : C Young (1)
Notes - Rough 1st and 2nd inning for J Saunders, giving up 4 hits, including a C Young solo shot in the 2nd. After that, he settled down nicely throwing 5 hitless innings. D Ackley 2-5 w/ 3 RBI's, K Seager 2-4 RBI, R Ibanez 2-3 led the offense.

        Game 3
        SEA - 0 / 1 / 1
        OAK - 7 / 10 / 0
        WP - J Parker (1-0) 9 IP / 1 H / 0 ER / 4 BB / 5 K
        LP - H Iwakuma (0-1) 4 IP / 6 H / 5 ER / 2 BB / 5 K
        HR - OAK : Y Cespedes (1)
        Notes - Damn near got no-hit. Y Cespedes led Oakland with a 4-5 day w/ 3 R, HR, 2B.

        Game 4
        SEA - 3 / 8 / 1
        OAK - 0 / 7 / 1
        WP - E Ramirez (1-0) 7 IP / 0 ER / 2 BB / 7 K SAVE - T Wilhemson (2)
        LP - T Milone (0-1) 7.1 IP / 2 ER / 1 BB / 6 K
        HR's - SEA : J Smoak (2)
        Notes - M Saunders 2-4, B Ryan continues his surprising hot hitting going 2-4 w/ 1 R. 1 RBI and a 2B.

Started a Mariners franchise with really good rosters.

the Rotation was hard to configue (especially the 4/5 spot) but we settled on

            1. King Felix
            2. Iwakuma
            3. Saunders
            4. Beavan
            5. Ramirez

            LR Noesi

            MR O.Perez
            MR S.Pryor
            MR C.Capps
            MR L.Luetge

            SU C.Furbush
            CL T.Wilhelmsen

            lineup:

            RF Michael Saunders
            2B Dustin Ackley
            LF Mike Morse
            1B/DH Kendrys Morales
            3B Kyle Seager
            C Jesus Montero
            1B Justin Smoak/DH Jason Bay
            RF Franklin Gutierrez (short leash)
            SS Brenden Ryan

I'm looking forward to see how Morse and Morales play, and if they can earn a big pay day next year. Also excited to see which of the big three can perform well enough to get to the majors first. Paxton and Hultzen are in AAA, and Walker is in AA. Also, SS Nick Franklin and C Mike Zunino appear to almost be big-league ready. Only time will tell when Franklin surpasses Current SS Brenden Ryan, or when Zunino can get the call up to the big leagues and maybe become a full time starter.

EDIT: Walker moved to AAA after 5 games, lol.

                Unfortunately, no, I do not.

I recently drafted a good reliever with 5* pot. and a OF with 5* pot. and am currently at the all star break. We are 44-51 and last in the AL West, 12 games out of first place.

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

I started a franchise with the Royals. A few players I am interested in dealing in trades are pitchers Luke Hochevar and Bruce Chen, and OF Jeff Francoeur. The rest of the team is solid all around. My starting rotation will be:

                  1. James Shield
                  2. Felipe Paulino
                  3. Wade Davis
                  4. Danny Duffy
                  5. Ervin Santana

The bullpen seems to be reliable, especially moving Chen from the rotation, but there does not seem to be a legitimate closer. The game, by default, placed Tim Collins in that role, but I am starting Greg Holland instead. SU's are Collins and Kelvin Herrera. The other arms are Everett Teaford, Aaron Crow, and Louis Coleman. I'll probably rotate George Sherrill and Brian Sanches from AAA from time-to-time.

                  My fielders are:
                  C: S. Perez
                  1B: Hosmer
                  2B: Giavotella
                  SS: A. Escobar
                  3B: Moustakas
                  RF: Francouer
                  CF: Cain
                  LF: A. Gordan
                  DH: B. Butler

I simmed through spring training and suffered a minor injury to Cain, so I am playing CF's Jarrod Dyson and D. Lough in a time-share. Once Cain comes back, I am sending Dyson to Omaha. My other depth guys are C Manny Pina and SS Elliott Johnson.

I played and won the first series against ChiSox, 2 games to 1. I lost the first game, 4-3. I was down 4-1, had a good rally top 9, but fell one out short, leaving runners on second and first...with Francouer, who I am quickly getting frustrated with. I gave up all 4 runs with Shields, but I was still able to K 9. I won the next game 3-1, thanks to a 3-run inside-the-park with Moustakas in top 6. I then won game 3, 7-2, with homers from Butler and Moustakas. I was up 7 in bottom 9, but Konerko ruined the spoils. The ChiSox hitters I had the biggest trouble with were Adam Dunn and Alex Rios. You can K Dunn 8/10 times, but those two hits will be homers or RBI's.

Anyways, I'll probably play two games in each series.

Swept Col, swept KC, took 2-3 from Det and now have 2 against Washington. 25-5 on the season... gonna have to jack the difficulty up again. (Switched to all star before Col) Justin Upton has been my MVP with a 360 avg. And 4 homers. Brian McCann has been the LVP with a 220 avg. With no homers. Kimbrel is 8-8 on saves

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

Started one with my hometown Twins. This is not going to be easy as there are holes everywhere in the lineup. Played a little bit of spring training and held in there even though I lost the games I played.

Made a trade with the Nationals after being dominated by Verlander in the opener to bring back D-Span and get Danny Espinosa to generate a little more offense and give me a decent shortstop.

Lost the second game 5-4 but scored 4 in the bottom of the 9th and left the tying run on 3rd base. So far in this series Prince Fielder and Austin Jackson are just killing me

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

                        Royals franchise:

I swept the Phillies, 3 games to 0, in the second series of the year. First game went 13 innings, I won 4-2, although Philly's starter Kendrick, had a no-hitter going into the top 7. Second game went 10 innings, I won 2-0. Third game, I shutout Philly again, 4-0. The only consistent threat for the Phillies was Utley, but overall, they didn't show up, except for the starting pitchers.

I am 5-1 on the season and Moustakas has been extremely effective, hitting five homers in the first six games, for a total of 12 RBI's. Greg Holland has done well in save situations, but against lefties, I will rely on Tim Collins.

I made my first two trades to clear up some budget space. Starting off, the Royals only have around 366k. I had two horrible contracts for Jeremy Guthrie (3 yrs, 20mil) and Luke Hochevar (2 yrs, 9mil), and to start the season, I had placed both in AAA. There's no way I was paying them that much to sit in Omaha. I traded Guthrie to SF for MR Kontos and Hochevar to the Yanks for Phelps (which I think was an absolute steal).

I'm starting a Reds franchise either tonight or tomorrow.

I'll keep the 25 man rosters legit, and only will accept trades (never instigating them.) I'll also update prospects.

                          I'm either considering

                          a) playing one game a series (2 if four game series) and super simming the rest.
                          or
                          b) playing all 162

                          I'm also considering

                          a) playing on Legend
                          b) using some custom sliders I've seen on here (any recommendations for these, by the way?)

I'll keep you posted. Does anyone know what the best custom sliders on here are? (I use Total Control hitting, classic pitching.)

I decided to go with BigFNjoe96's sliders, and will play all 162 games.

Here is the Reds roster I have:

                            C- Ryan Hanigan, Devin Mesoraco
                            1B- Joey Votto
                            2B- Brandon Phillips
                            3B- Todd Frazier, Jack Hannahan
SS- Zack Cozart, Josh Haring (will update him to be a real prospect, since hes a fake one.)
LF- Ryan Ludwick, Chris Heisey, Xavier Paul
                            CF- Shin-Soo Choo
                            RF- Jay Bruce
SP- Aroldis Chapman, Johnny Cueto, Mat Latos, Homer Bailey, Bronson Arroyo
RP- Sam Lecure, Alfredo Simon, Manny Para, Mike Leake, Jose Arredondo
                            SU- Sean Marshall
                            CL- Jonathan Broxton

No ratings have been upgraded. Injury slider will be set to 10, as per BIGFNJOE96's sliders. I'm simming spring training now and will play a few games and report the results here.

Love Joe's sliders too, but I'm striking out a ton of opponents. My k-to-bb ratio is 14-2 through 11 games. That's with the O's too.

Think I'm gonna play around with the pitching sliders to get the pitching in line.

That's the only issue I've had so far.

Started a Braves franchise with Joe's sliders I don't plan on changing the roster in any way considering Atlanta is stacked, hit 2 HR's with Justin Upton in my first spring training game against Detroit and Verlander. Kris Medlen pitched 7 innings only allowing 1 run off 2 hits and got the win. Cabrera hit a monster off him on an 0-2 2 seamer but hey...he does that to everyone.
