Orioles chise: 162 game season, playing all.
    Made a couple trades beforehand:
Orioles receive: Domonic Brown, Kyle Kendrick
Phillies get: Endy Chavez, Josh Bell (3B prospect)

    O's get: Trevor Cahill
Nats get: Dana Eveland, Kevin Gregg, Tommy Hunter
D-Backs get: Roger Bernadina, Drew Storen

    O's get: Charley Adams (4-star 3B prospect)
    D-Backs get: Ryan Flahrety

Played the first game: 10-4 win. Chris Davis with a grand slam, Adam Jones/Mark Reynolds also connected. 3 earned runs

Thinking about starting mine over but 162 game season instead of 54. What do you guys usually do in terms of play/simulate. Playing 54 game seasons I played all, and will be willing to play a few more games and was thinking about Play Series/SIM series. That would have be playing roughly 81 games. Anyone have any input?

I usually play one game in every series. Works out well. I super sim the other games. It seems that Super Simming doesn't get your bullpen fatigue all screwed up.

Then of course, I play every game of the playoffs.

How do you decide what game you play?

I usually play the first game. But if I find that it ends up being the same pitcher I just pitched with I'll play game 2, 3 or 4 depending.

Not really a huge deal. I like to mix it up with who I pitch with.

I usually play 1-2 games each series. I usually mix it up so Im not using the same starting pitcher every time.

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

Just played one of my more memorable games of my Astros 'chise today. A rematch of the 2005 World Series.

Put an absolute hurting on the White Sox pitcher Hector Santiago, who for some reason was starting. Seems like the Sox flip flopped Hector Santiago and Jose Quintana's roles. Anyway...

Playing at home in the first game of a 4-game set vs. the Chi Sox, ended Santiago's day in the 4th inning after hanging a 6-spot on him, including a grand slam by Gerardo Parra, to go up 8-0. Then Nate Jones/Matt Thornton/Addison Reed came in to hurl 9 shutout innings! Now you might be wondering how can Santiago pitch 3+ innings and the pen pitch 9+ innings in the same game? Extra innings? But I was up 8-0?

Exactly. See right after going up 8-0, the White Sox decided to bat around against my starter Adam Wilk, and they hung 4 on me in the 5th inning. Then they put up another crooked number off Rhiner Cruz in the 7th inning, and the game became a narrow 8-7 contest.

Heading to the top 9...still up 8-7, I bring in my closer Kyle McClellan, who is a perfect 24 for 24 in saves to this point.

First batter up, Gordon F*$&ing Beckham. First pitch is a slider, perfectly located, low outside corner. And it's going, going gone! Tie ballgame 8-8, and McClellan has blown his 1st save of the season in mid-June! Able to get 3 quick outs afterward.

Headed to extras, no real threats either way, McClellan atones for his blown save with 2 more quality IP.

Both bullpens are on fumes. LOL, luckily I am just coming from an open date, the Sox are not so lucky and all their relievers are coming in with a lower and lower pitch cap. I am down to my last reliever, Chuckie Fick. The White Sox ended up throwing 146 pitches, 100 for strikes. I ended up tossing 209 pitches, 125 strikes and 84 balls. Quite a workout for the ole thumb, lol.

                BOTTOM OF THE 14TH...

First batter, Jose Altuve singles to center. Then promptly steals 2nd base ala Dave Roberts in the 2004 ALCS (ok, with slightly less at stake).

Second batter, Mike Olt raps a would-be double down the 1B line past Konerko off an outside FB. Altuve scores easily before Olt can reach 2nd on the walk-off hit. There was much rejoicing.

Astros win 9-8 in 14 innings.

Houston Astros exceeding ALL expectations, currently 38-31, 2nd place AL West, 7 GB Texas Rangers.

Mid 70's, usually. Using the Jays also.

If you are willing to play 54. Then play every 3rd game. Plus you will use a different starting pitcher (3rd, 1st, 4th, 2nd, 5th) then it will rotate back to the 3rd again. That is what I do, however if I have big series with a team in front of me in the standings, I will sometimes play the entire series as well

They have some real players but the majority of them are generated... On my Brewers franchise I searched the entire farm trying to find Hunter Morris (minor leaguer of the year for MIL.) and Scooter Gennett but had absolutly no luck. I found their "clones" but they only had 2-star potential so i didn't call them up

Did an Angels franchise where I tore almost all of the team apart and started rebuilding... with phenoms. I started by trading for manny machado and chris davis (need some power right?) Then I traded C.J. Wilson to the Mets for Matt Harvey and a 5 star prospect. All in all my oldest player is 27 (excluding Scott Downs)
                            Lineup:
                            2b. Jose Altuve
                            ss. Jurickson Profar
                            lf. Mike Trout
                            1b. Chris Davis
                            rf. Jason Heyward
                            cf. Justin Upton
                            dh. Anthony Rizzo
                            3b. Manny Machado
                            C. Hank Conger
                            Pitching rotation:
                            1. Mat Latos
                            2. Matt Moore
                            3. Jarrod Parker
                            4. Matt Harvey
                            5. Shelby Miller
I made allot of trades and trade finders and with the skill set the Angels originally had I got a ton from players such as Weaver and Hamilton

At the end of the season, (played 45 games) we went 94-68 and had the second best record in the AL but ended up losing to the Crew in the World Series. Profar ended up hitting 41 homers and 114 rbis over the year earning him ROY. The funniest thing I realized though is that at the start of the franchise, we had about 7 mil in cap at the end of year one, 95.78 mil in cap space... going to need every penny of that to re-sign some players such as trout and rizzo. Also saving up to sign David Price in 2016 (Rays can never pay him enough so he ends up costing like 16 mil in FA)

Finally started an O's chise, after a too long hiatus.
Lost to the Twins 1-2 in the series, but good playing overall: Jones is hitting .500, davis and hardy have homers (Hardy has 2).
Beat the Yankees in game 1. Came back from down 4-3, scored a run of Mariano in the 9th (2 consecutive 2B's) and won it in the 10th with a sac fly.
