As of right now, your best bet is to use the 2k12 Rosters by Mkharsh and Bretsky..I believe they available for both 2k12 and 2k13 if I'm not wrong.

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

Don't look now but it's Easter Sunday, and the Astros are starting out in full-blown resurrection mode in my 'chise. After getting pounded (and swept) by Texas in the opening series, have gone 2-1 vs. the A's, 2-1 vs. the M's, and most recently have swept the Angels in 3 games in Anaheim!

Season to date: 7-5 (2nd place AL West)

      Will post stats soon!

Also, eff u C.J. Wilson for beaning Jose Altuve in the back and sending him to the DL! Next time I play the Angels, I am tempted to turn off the DH to make Wilson bat for himself....what? I didn't say anything would be "intentional"...sometimes the pitcher just loses his grip on a 96-mph fastball is all...

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

OK, I promised some stats recently, and it's time to stand and deliver.

My Astros 'chise. Season 1. April. 8-7, 2nd place AL West.

After being rudely greeted in my home opener series by Texas and their brooms, my squad proceeded to hold serve at home against OAK 2 games to 1 (with the 2 wins on back-to-back come from behind games with walk-off HRs). Then took a roadie to SEA and ANA. Took both series. 2-1 over SEA and a clean sweep in Anaheim. Then in a trip to OAK, took game 1 of the three game set, to extend to a 5-game winning streak. Unfortunately, OAK seized the momentum in the next game with a walk-off HR of their own off the bat of John Jaso. For those of you scoring at home, that's 5 games played so far against OAK, with 3 decided on walk-off HRs. I think a rivalry doth brew. And, in the rubber match, I couldn't solve Brett Anderson, losing 7-3. So, after 15 games, a solid 8-7 record.

Team is batting a very modest .234 with a lackluster .297 OBP. Pitching staff has a pedestrian 4.56 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. The team has shown some heart and a flair for clutch hitting with 3 come-from-behind wins in the 9th or later, a .313 average with RISP, and 5 for 5 in SV OPP from veteran Kyle McClellan.

            Team Leaders

            SP - Patrick Corbin: 3 GS / 2-1 / 20.1 IP / 1.33 ERA / 0.89 WHIP / 22K:3BB
            CP - Kyle McClellan: 4.1 IP / 5 SV / 0 BS / 0.00 ERA / 0.92 WHIP / 4K:4BB

            CF - Gerardo Parra: .340/.444/.472 / 0 HR / 7 RBI / 7 RS / 1 SB / .625 RISP
            DH - Brett Wallace: .267/.328/.500 / 3 HR / 13 RBI / 5 RS / .412 RISP
            LF - Chris Carter: .240/.291/.500 / 4 HR / 11 RBI / 6 RS / .300 RISP

An offseason deal to bring in Patrick Corbin and Gerardo Parra is paying huge dividends as Corbin has assumed the title of 'ace' and is having a Cy Young-esque start to 2013. Parra is top 5 in OBP in MLB, a true catalyst atop the order. Carter, Wallace, and Carlos Pena have provided some punch in the lineup with 10 HR amongst them. McClellan has solidified his grasp on the 9th inning and should fetch interest near the trade deadline at this rate.

            Veteran Stock Watch

            SP - Erik Bedard: 3 GS / 0-2 / 14.1 IP / 5.65 ERA / 1.74 WHIP / 5K:5BB
            SP - Philip Humber: 3 GS / 0-0 / 13.2 IP / 9.22 ERA / 1.68 WHIP / 9K:6BB

            SS - Brendan Ryan: .119/.178/.190 / 0 HR / 1 RBI / 5 RS / .143 RISP

Veteran starters Bedard and Humber have had a very poor beginning to 2013, thus calling into question their value as potential trade bait should HOU go in that direction. It's a bit of a testament to the team's clutch nature that Humber has a 9.22 ERA thru 3 starts and still no losses. Brendan Ryan has not fit in yet (save for his silky defense) after being acquired from SEA. A .119 average is not going to attract any trade suitors and will likely see him benched for Tyler Greene (who has 2 HR and is hitting over .300 in part-time duty) or newly acquired Ronny Cedeno if it continues.

Just lost my opener in MLB Today Season Mode 6-1 vs Red Sox's

CC takes the lost. Lester was dominant allowing 1 run on 5 hits. SO 9 while walking 0

Game was played in very cloudy weather just like the real thing which is always a nice touch

I think I will give MLB Today Season mode another try this year. I was kind of disappointed in how it turned out last season. Part of it was the eventual lack of support.

But part of it is that fatigue is not a real factor in MLB today. I wish they would lift pitch counts from the box scores, and create a more real sense of a lack of options.

I'm playing all my games. I'm a bit of a stickler about not accruing stats I didn't generate myself. I played the ST games also, but I don't really care about the stats, it was more to road test sliders.

However, I don't feel the need to wait for a specific roster set, as I've been handling real-life transactions as they come up. I am also in the process of creating (well editing current fake players anyway) the top 5 prospects for each team. I still need to do the NL Central and NL West. The best prospect I made so far, using a semi-realistic approach of scouting reports and velocities/stats, has been Jose Fernandez who is about an 80. Jackie Bradley Jr came out a 78, so it's cool my highest prospects have been deemed the ones ready for MLB in real life. I figure the lesser prospects might as well be made-up players, it won't really affect me.

I also edited pitch speed edits to conform to Fangraphs. I noticed that the stock rosters have max pitch speeds listed for the pitchers (and fantasy-land pitch speeds in some cases), but they function in essence as average pitch speeds since the velo doesn't decrease much over the course of a game. I ended up lowering the pitch speed for almost every pitcher and every pitch. Yes, it took awhile, lol.

I made some trades too, but tried to make 'em as realistic as possible. I really had no desire to keep the stock Astros roster for the sake of doing that, but I also didn't want to basically have a fantasy draft team either, as that would defeat the purpose of a patient rebuilding project.

Blue Jays Franchise (Update - 20 games):
I am currently 14-6 and 1st in the AL East its been a very fun time, only really winning 2 games with more than 4 runs. The Sox and Yankees are right behind me with 12 and 11 wins respectively. Jose Bautista is a beast...11 HR in 20 games and is way ahead of the pack. Encarnacion and Rasmus both have 5, and Lind has 1. Lawrie and Arencieba don't have 1 yet, but Lawrie is batting a whopping .412 in 20 games lol. In terms of pitching, Dickey has been rough with a 2-3 record with a ERA just over 7. Josh Johnson has been a monster along with morrow both have ERA around 1.50 and Johnson is averaging 9 K's per game (I play 6 innings so thats impressive). Buehurle has an ERA just over 2, and Romero had a rough start with 8 ER but since has rebounded with 3 ER in last 3 games lowering ERA to around 6. JA Happ is waiting in the wings in case he struggles and has been signed to his extension like in real life. I also traded for Delmon Young to bat DH against LHP, and Jokiam Soria from Texas to get a better MR. I signed Wilson to be my closer and hes been lights out. Having a lot of fun with the game!

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread

Now I dont know if there is a trade help thread so I will just post here. I am the Jays and currently looking to deal Lawrie. 1 He looks like an alien in the game and it really drives me nuts. 2 he hasn't hit a homer yet but has hit for solid average. 3 hes hurt all the time, little injuries keeping him out weeks (In real life) and I wanna make a move. So here are the stipulations:

                        - I want to pick up someone to play 3B or RF in the deal (Can move Jose to 3B if I get RF).
                        - I want a player with at least 80 contact AND/OR 70+ Power against righties.
                        - I dont care about sallary since the Jays are fine with spending money to compete now. Im 14-6 and dont want prospects Id rather get a decent player back along with maybe an upgrade at SP over Romero.
                        - Lawrie is 88, 4/5 Star Potential in the game, so maybe a little lesser Bat (3B/RF) + a SP upgrade over Romero would be my asking price.

                        * IF anyone can help me find a fair trade for both teams please let me know. Greatly appreciated and I will help if anyone needs some advice. I need help because im biased (Jays fan and Canadian) so I dont wanna rip the computer. Please dont use the "wouldnt happen in real life" approach since it isn't real its a game, I just dont wanna rip off the computer and cheese it*

What is Romero is rated? As an O's fan, I know more about them than anyone else. Chris Davis could be an option. He is crushing righties and hitting for average. He can play RF, 1st, and 3rd.

Don't know about pitching. Maybe you can get back Hammel? He's only signed thru next season. If you are looking for younger pitching then maybe take a chance on one of the O's high potential guys like Britton or Arrietta.

                            Some options for you:

                            M. Prado (AZ)
                            J. Francisco + M. Minor (ATL)
                            L. Chisenhall + J. Masterson (CLE)
                            K. Seager + E. Ramirez (SEA)
                            A. Gordon + W. Davis (KC)
Headley (SD) (you might need to add Romero too)
                            T. Frazier + H. Bailey (CIN)
                            P. Alvarez (PIT)
                            J. Willingham + L. Hendriks (MIN)

Didn't really look into ratings, but this gives you some options to look at. Some come with pitchers, some without. Happy hunting

I looked at Chris Davis, but in the game, hes great at 1st but his RF and 3B are in the 50's overall. I looked at Markakias but im unsure on him. Romero is rated 77 in my dynasty.

Didn't really look into ratings, but this gives you some options to look at. Some come with pitchers, some without. Happy hunting
Thanks for the great opinions. OK, where to start. I looked at most of these guys. Prado I liked, He puts up solid contact but his power isnt the best, but solid option. Francisco is rated like 72 so didnt rly want him. Seager is a solid option but is around 60/low 70s in batting stats so thats not quite good enough. Gordon is solid but is LF and his RF Defense isnt that great, so I kind of put him on the back burner for now. Headley is rated like 92 lol and hes untouchable for the Padres in my Dynasty ( I offered Bau/Lawrie to see if there was any way, and the trade interest didnt move lol) Frazier is interesting for sure I will consider him, and also I like Willingham hes an option, but the Twins Rotation is brutal. Alvarez has solid power, but his contact sucks in the game and I dont really like any Pirates SP.

                                - Some names I looked at in terms of a bat were Ryan Zimmerman, Beltran, Holliday, Hunter Pence, Prado, Markakias, Justin Upton, Willingham, Middlebrooks, Frazier but that list just makes my headache and I have no clue where to go. Anyone have any feedback on this list (+ SP's of course) or if Im missing anyone?
