Did a franchise as the blue jays and found a little "cheat" to making your team good. Just trade Brett Lawrie for anyone you want and you can trade him back to you for prospectsComment

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread
I hope you gentlemen don't mind some 2k12 reporting.
After watching Moneyball last week I decided I'd go with the A's of all teams on 2k12 pc. I decided to play what I call "worthwhile" baseball. That means I simulate each season until the September call ups, then I play all the worthwhile games. At a game/day this means each season should take about a month in real time.
As I simmed the 2k12 season I drafted a 91 speed outfielder named Oyster Brothers. There's not much else to say about him other than what a name. He's a 70 OVR, and I probably should have taken a 74 OVR SP, but I couldn't pass up that name.
I also traded lots of money away in the Moneyball spirit. Guys who I have shipped out have been Chris Young, Coco Crisp and some Neshek guy who made like $9M a year. Guys I have brought in have been Mujica and Boggs from St. Louis and Josh Thole who is a nice contact catcher. I think I saved about $12m during this entire process.
I love the pace of this season. In the past if I tried getting many games in my patience hitting and pitching would really suffer. Now when I pitch I am willing to throw balls.Comment

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread
Series 3 vs. Houston (Seattle takes series 2-1)
Game 1
HOU – 0 / 5 / 0
SEA – 5 / 9 / 0
WP – H Iwakuma (1-1) 8.2 IP / 5 H / 0 ER / 4 BB / 6 K
LP – B Norris (0-1) 8 IP / 9 H / 5 ER / 3 BB / 4 K
HR’s – SEA : J Smoak (4)
Notes – 5 runs over the first 2 innings is more than enough for the win. Iwakuma struggled early, getting out of bases loaded jams in both the 1st and 2nd innings before finding a groove. Unfortunately, he left with an injury with 2 outs in the 9th with his pitch count at 119. Ruptured finger, heading to the 15 day DL. Smoak went 3-4 and Montero chipped in with a 2-4 day.
Game 2
HOU - 0 / 1 / 0
SEA - 4 / 8 / 1
WP – E Ramirez (2-0) 8.1 IP / 1 H / 0 ER / 4 BB / 10 K (107 Pitches)
LP - E Bedard (0-1) 5 IP / 4 H / 4 ER / 1 BB / 2 K
HR’s – SEA : J Smoak (5)
Notes – I think I am going to love welcoming the Astros to the AL West this year. E Ramirez dominated for 8 1/3 innings before running out of gas. J Smoak continued his early season power display by going 2-4 with another HR (5 in 9 games and a team leading .312 BA).
Game 3
HOU – 7 / 10 / 1
SEA – 2 / 7 / 3
WP – W Wright (1-0) 3.2 IP / 3 H / 1 ER / 2 BB / 3 K
LP – B Beavan (0-2) 4.2 IP / 5 H / 3 ER / 2 BB / 4 K
HR’s – HOU : C Pena (3)
Notes – Houston starter P Humber escaped a bases loaded, no out first inning by giving up only 1 run before calming down to go 4.2 Innings. M Morse returned for the DL, but went 0-4 in his season debut. K Seager and M Saunders both chipped in 2 hits in the losing effort. For the Astros, the middle of the order did most of the damage with C Pena, C Carter, B Wallace all adding 2 hits.
Loving this game so far. I seem to be scoring runs at a decent clip, but the overall offensive numbers seem to be low (which is good). Runs scored through the first 10 games : 3,6,0,3,1,5,7,5,4,2. I learned to respect the pitch cap numbers. I let Iwakuma go for the shutout and go over his suggested pitch count and paid a price for it with a trip to the DL. Next up is a 4 game set with the Texas Rangers.Comment

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread
Hi guys this is my first time postin on this thread but here it goes... I did a fantasy draft with the Angels, and I think I have a pretty good team! I like playing with a lot of power and good defense, I don't need great pitching but I have good pitching. I like to have a lot of young guys with a lot of potential and a couple vets who know what they are doing.
C-Salvador Perez
1B-Adrian Gonzalez
2B-Jose Altuve
SS-Derek Jeter
3B-Will Middlebrooks
DH-Edwin Encrnacion
OFs-Giancarlo Stanton, Alex Gordon, Scott, Gomes, and Saunders
SPs-Beachy, Wainwright, Lincecum, Hammel, and Maholm
RPs-Bundy, Stinson, Kelly, McGee, Jansen, Marshall, Street
I like my team but I want to trade Adrian Gonzalez for a uounger power hitter.Comment

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread
Yeah, all you'd have to do is look for generic guys who have the closest resemblance, position, and throwing handedness as the player you want to input. You can change batting handedness, but as juand said, appearance (aside from height and weight), position, and throwing hand cannot be changed. You can create players also from scratch.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I am averaging ~3.5 runs per game, which is actually very realistic for an Astros team. I also have hit 9 HR in 9 games so far, with a couple homerless, but one game I hit 3 HR. My team BA is pretty low though, around .210 right now, but rising after Texas throttled me in the opening series. My team ERA is about 4.70 or so, which is also quite realistic.
In fact, if you're having trouble with stats, check out BIGFNJOE96's slider thread. I am loosely using those sliders and am getting nice, sim-like stats. Through 9 games (which is still a small sample of games), the only things that are a bit off are my BA (.210 currently, HOU hit .236 last year...I'd expect .240-ish) and my K/9 is a touch high being around 8.5 (HOU was about 7.4 K/9 last year).

Brandon Moss
Eric Hosmer
Brandon Belt (not as much power)
Anthony Rizzo (a good option for youth, not as much power as some)
Joey Votto (probably the best 1B in the game)
Ike Davis (I think he's the best choice for you in terms of youth/power)
Freddie Freeman (I think he's probably almost as good as Ike Davis for you)
You could probably expect to get any of these except for Votto straight-up for A-Gone. With Votto, you'd need to add more, like Bundy and/or Lincecum.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB 2K13: The Franchise Mode Thread
Thanks a lot, I already tried for Votto I actually offered that exact trade for him and their liking o the trade was still only half way, I traded Niddlebrooks for Machado and a young pitcher with a 4 star potential. I will try trading A-Gon today. Thanks a lot!Comment
