They can't rot in hell.

That is where umpires are from.

This just in:

Earl Cooper sucks! King Felix has been getting hosed all game long at the Ballpark in Arlington...

That is all.

LOL @ H&V

I played 2 games today and confirm the reports on CB Hernandez in my first game. Game 2, Rusty Valentine called a low strike zone and the rest of his strike zone was tight.

Herein lies the problem here with '12. I LOVE the idea, but hoenstly, the umpires do not keep their personalities consistantly enough to utilize the scouting report effectively.

Woody Keller ought to call those outside-corner strikes to rightys all game long. That is all a pitcher ever asks for. A strike in the second is a strike in the eighth. Period.

And this game does not yet utilize that mind set.

The idea is fantastic, the implementation with the variable stike zone (which is the only way to have the personalities come into play) is simply that. Variable.

Perhaps like the Pitch Delay speed, they just forgot to turn it on, and they can fix it with the next pat.. uh... update.

If they want to make this a part of the authenticity, they ought to allow the pitcher to figure out the personality for that particular game and make it a consistent zone for the duration.

That way, when you realize you are going to pick the pocket of every lefty that comes to the plate by throwing that cutter in under the hands, and getting the inside chalk, you do it all game long, and really start to set up the hitters.

This is not the way it works now.

Absolutely agree 100%! In 10 it was done perfectly, but then in 11 that inconsistency occurred for some reason. It's such a tremendous idea and if properly done (like in 10) it is one of the best features in this game hands down. The other part of this is that they promoted the 14 new umpire personalities, but then completely took out the announcers mentioning who the umpires are for the game. I thought it was awesome when they said who the umps were during the 1st inning. Now we have to go check the game log to see who they are. It just kind of takes away from that feature of the game IMO. I'm not bashing SCEA or anything for it because I would rather have variable strike zones than just the straight forward one. I just think if they could clean this up a little bit, and then get the announcers to mention the umps again, it would no doubt make this game even better.

A good start would be for SCEA to tell us what the tendencies are for each ump if they are in fact consistent with "their" strike zone from game-to-game. Why hide that info?
