Need Help On Rebuilding Strategies

So I am new to the whole realistic way of rebuilding and I would like some help/ideas on the main parts. I've always done fair trades but never like realistic trades and FA signings etc.

I am gonna rebuild the Padres and I would like some tips on realistic things to do to both rebuild near the trading deadline, and before the season starts. This includes trades and FA signings and anything else you can think of.

I don't wanna play with the 100% stock Padres so I would like to know what is a good pitcher/hitter to target. I want that "one pitcher" and "one hitter" that I can get excited about. Somebody who is preferably A potential or at least high B potential and they are major league ready. If this isn't an option then I would like the next best thing and so on.

Thanks for the help in advance! Appreciate it!

Puig could be a good target if you can make the trade for him. Goldshimdt is another target BUT i can almost promise Arizona will not let him go. Cespedes could be another target or Jason Heyward.

Keep Gyorko because he could be the future 3B. they resigned him to a new deal and Headley hasn't had a deal offered yet. Could be a sign that they are going to move Gyorko to 3B which is supposedly his natural position

Also I am willing to do like 3+ team trades to make things interesting since that happens a decent amount in real life.

Ya I doubt Goldshimdt will be traded but I can see Puig, Heyward and Cespedes. What do you think about Ben Revere, Arenado Segura or Altuve? (Ya I like contact hitters haha). Wacha, Alex Wood, Cosart, Paco Rodriguez, Kelvin Herrera all interest me as well.

Arenado or or Rendon, would be good for 3b or 2b

Revere might fit in good at your Stadium,

Wacha and Cosart would be good SP

Herrera would be great if you could get him from the Royals.

As far as Heyward or Cespedes I dunno in that park but it is worth a shot. Like you said contact hitter is what you like prob better to stick with contact hitters in that park

I am loving this because Im going to be starting a Padres franchise soon and I like to see what you are doing with yours

Uhm, Wacca would be a good pick up for a pitcher but i dont know if St. Louis will want to deal him. Altuve could be a great pick up if your willing to make the trades to Houston for him. Especially if you move Gyorko to 3B and put him at 2nd. I dont know who your SS is but Simmons from Atlanta looks really good and possibly Profar if you move him to SS (assuming thats not where he plays, i think he was SS last year but Texas moved him to 2B this year). Gomez could be another choice for OF, I dont like the way he's acting this year so i doubt i would personally make that trade as i can't stand ppl like that. Not taking anything from him as a player, but i am as a person because of the fights he started last year acting like he did and some of the stuff that has been reported this year. Anyway, slightly off topic about him lol. I'd try to get Altuve IF you can keep Gyorko and move him to 3rd

Awesome! Thanks for the advice! It's cool to try to coordinate with others and see how others are doing it.

I really like Revere because Maybin has such low contact and Revere is like a better younger faster Maybin.

With my lineup right now Headley, Alonso and Grandal can all hit righties well but I plan on trading Headley. I want a good power lefty so I can do something against them outside Alonso and Grandal. They're good, but neither has an power.

I would like to have Revere (or someone like that to bat lead off), Cabrera to bat 2nd and Alonso bat 3rd. I would like a nice power hitter to bat behind Alonso. Grandal will bat 5th and Headley will be traded.

Same deal against righties except I have Gyorko but I would like a more consistent power threat.

So I kinda want a power threat and another 1-2 solid contact hitters.

Re: Need Help On Rebuilding Strategies

Puig is probably your best bet for a number 4 hitter with decent power and contact against both hands. Could look at Moustakus (think that's right) or Lawire (think thats right lol) for 3B if you dont want to move Gyorko there after trading Headley
