Mind you I’m on XBSX and definitely not trying to sell this on anyone, but I think it looks better. Not groundbreaking, but the lighting has been upped a lot and the stadiums are a lot brighter during night games where they are supposed to be (lit up signs and stuff like that). Reflections looks much better too, especially on the helmets/uniforms/players. Much of the player related things are sharper too and the new player models help a bit.

It’s not perfect and it can definitely look better, but it’s improved from last year for sure.

I think the ball physics have been tweaked to make it a bit more realistic for doubles. The ball used to carry quickly and bounce off the fence. Now it seems like it slows up just a bit as it would on the grass so you have a chance at getting doubles down the line that aren’t so close at 2nd anymore.

The no-doubt homer sequence does include that distance popup even for offline games. Bummer. Nice to finally see where the ball is landing, though.

You can sort of get around it with the older broadcast profiles, starting with the 2000's one. You're still going to see the player's instant reaction to his HR, but when the camera cuts to the ball's flight it won't show the distance immediately on landing.

Apparently the stadiums I created and uploaded in MLB 24 are all missing from stadium vault for MLB 25

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions

I like the new batting lineup screen with it showing who is on the bench and broken down as left handed, right handed, or switch hitters

Bummed that there doesn’t appear to be a defensive lineup screen again this year.

I absolutely hate the new no doubt homerun cut scenes/sequences this year. They just quickly take you out of the “simulation” and into an “arcade game” feeling, especially with the distance automatically popping up. So wish it could be turned off or disabled when using broadcast presentation….ugh

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions

SDS only added 88 additional names to the Last Name Voice File database this year! This is the lowest number of any year.

As a reminder, here are the numbers going back to ML 20:

              MLB 20 - 4895
              MLB 21 - 5030 + 135
              MLB 22 - 1552 - 3478 (New announcer)
              MLB 23 - 2693 + 1141
              MLB 24 - 2940 + 247
              MLB 25 - 3028 + 88

There are a number of features, such as carry over saves, which cannot be easily reinstated because of complex programming issues. However adding back the lost last name voice files is not one of them.

Several years ago, at one of the feature presentation sessions for a new edition of the game, SDS indicated they were committed to eventually putting back all the names that were lost in the change of announcer team. However, it seems like this has been forgotten.

My last name, Boudreau, which was in the game as far back as MLB 11, is still missing! I am sure there are many others in my situation. This especially effects RTTS.

Played a full franchise game reds vs giants. Gameplay seem the same if its not broke dont fix it. Playing on hitting all star pitching hall of fame. I had one issue where i was trying to throw the ball but its like pump fake and I couldn’t throw and gave up two runs. I didnt know ambush hitting was only for zone. So now i am switching to zone so i can use ambush hitting. Sucks a lot of the coaches still aren’t part of the mlbpa. Not sony fault. Love the sounds of the bat is really good.

Absolutely loving this game so far, but I wanted to try playing in the Coliseum with my DD team, only to find out there’s no Coliseum at all. I know it was replaced by Sutter Health, but it’s not even listed under Classic Stadiums. Really disappointing if it doesn’t get added back, especially as an OAKLAND A’s fan

They don’t have the license to the CWS.

The cool aspect of this is that the No Doubt HR sequence for when you give up a HR on broadcast cam is just like the TV. You see the guy watch it go from the pitcher camera angle and then it flashes to the ball leaving the park. Pretty cool touch.

Licensing. Several individual schools are working with SDS on this - not the NCAA as a whole.

Yea. Noticed that when I gave up an absolute moonshot to the CPU in Diamond Dynasty. Camera held on the batter (Teoscar Hernandez) for a second or 2 before switching to the ball flight. Still had the distance popup unfortunately - only reason it wasn't perfect.

With the older presentation setups (again, the 2000 setting and before), it's probably a perfect recreation. When the user's pitching anyway. Maybe for CPU vs CPU too, since it locks to broadcast view in that situation.

Best game in the entire series I ever played. From the updated player models to all the changes in displays, text sizes etc the game play is phenomenal!! So much stuff has been fixed that 24 got wrong. I'm very happy with this year's game. Thanks @MLBTheShow entire team!!

For all the OSers you got to see and play this in person yourself. All the ones saying graphics, player models etc haven't been changed or looks exactly the same the last 10 years. Well I've given them a hard time myself in that area, but this game on my setup is smooth as butter and you can definitely see the changes in uniforms, player models physique. The game really does feels different and everything pops and is crystal clear. I can't express enough about the QOL changes.

The settings/menu area is different and going to take some getting use to and some other menu or quick access but I'm loving all the changes. Wind is still not in online play and that sucks but I'll deal with it because this is the year of baseball and the best one yet they made.

Kotsay(A’s) and Marmol(STL) are missing as managers. It doesn’t affect gameplay of course. Just the immersion factor.
