Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions

Played opening day with my cubbies against the dodgers. Won a walk off 3-2. But the dodgers did not bring in Tanner Scott their closer. Hope it’s just one game thing and not the norm.

Edit: I was trailing 2-1 going into the 9th. Got runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 out and they still didn’t bring their closer in

Absolutely not. I enjoy the work you guys all do as it makes the game way more enjoyable with ST and minor league parks. This is the place for you to vent anyway. I was just pointing it out, that’s all.

I don't remember that being a problem in 24 though.

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions

Opening day facing Toronto. Bullpen logic is the same from just this one example in my first game. It's top of the 6th, game tied 2-2. Begins the inning with 92 pitches. I get a leadoff single on pitch number 96. He was left in for the next batter, and of all guys it's Gunnar Henderson. I blast a no doubt two run homerun to take the 4-2 lead. NOW they finally yank him.

The logic is the same. All that matters is the score. As long as that game was tied the cpu was leaving that SP in until he either gave up the lead, or would've to begin top 9th most likely if score was still tied. If lower pitch counts was part of the logic to help bullpen logic/usage then this would prove that to be incorrect imo.

I came across this Decision timer for manager mode. 2, 4, 6 seconds, or off are the options. MoM players might be happy to see something new for them. I'm going to have to test that out and see what it does because it is interesting.

I also noticed we can now turn off the confidence and energy bars separately without having to turn off the entire pitch selection. This is one of those quality of life things that may be overlooked.
that has always been there for manage mode. not new

I really am loving the soundtrack of the game. The batter walk up music seems to start playing much earlier than before, and it maybe plays a bit longer and louder. I'm all for anything that creates more immersion no matter how small.

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions

Very disappointed. The gameplay is always going to be great but on the peripheral , super disappointing. Couple of observations….

                        - use to to think the roster management was bad but i just realized it doesn't exist. I turned injuries and trades off and simmed a season. I was monitoring the Cubs. They made 2… yes 2 roster transactions all season. They demoted Pressley who had a 2.21 era in july . They also optioned Colin Rea who had a mid 3 era. These simply because their overalls had dipped below the next best option. Pitching rotation , bullpen, lineup were unchanged ALL season. They let jon berti hit in the 2 spot all year while batting under .210.

                        - bullpen usage is alot better. In a sim the Closer had 4 holds , su2 was used , and the appearances were balanced. Top guy in my bullpen had 63 appearances.

                        - HR leader was ohtani with 54 and only 3 other guys had HR’s in the 40’s. 2 pitchers led the league with 50 saves

                        - skubal had 7, yes, 7 CG shutouts lol i didnt count the AL but the national league had 87 complete games thrown by SP’s. Looks like this might be how they got the bullpen appearances to be lower

                        - 18 of the top 100 prospects have face scans. Very little new face scans as far as i can tell. Also a huge discrepancy between the CAPS that they looked like they spent alot of time on as opposed to a bunch of the others

                        - equipment, think i see 1 new nb shoe and 1 new UA shoe. All equipment has same jacked up colorblocking and you cant change the color of the logo on the new nb shoe or the new harper shoe

                        - imo , the cpu cant be trusted to trade again. Traded werent necessary lopsided anymore but do not make sense. Worst one was an ethan salas trade for jose alvarado who was rated in the 70’s and had a 5+ era

Just played a night game in September where the players had sunglasses on all game. Assuming that’s a bug since the sun was down after the 1st inning anyway.

I play one game…The Show….big fan picked up the PRO as they initially said “enhanced for the PRO”. Got a really good 4k tv and I’ll be danged if I see a bit of difference.

Packing it in for the night.

This is extremely disappointing to hear. I have a pro as well and I can’t believe they didn’t even try to make the game look better. SMH!

Default Legend difficulty had teeth in my first game, a mid-August franchise game vs. the Cardinals that I played. My starter Ben Brown got knocked around for 5 runs and 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings. Meanwhile I got shut out at the plate by Steven Matz for 60 innings, and then Quinn Mathews in relief for 3. Mathews is a long reliever out of the Cards pen, but I'm not gonna try to judge the bullpen logic in a game where I manage no runs and 5 hits.

The storylines thing was a neat thing to look at at the start of the game, but if it affects the presentation throughout the game I wouldn't know since the one I chose was about Brown and he was highly ineffective.

Hit chart from the game - again, default Legend. CPU got me on the corners (and off of it) several times. Don't remember that happening much last year.

I'm pretty scared of what G.O.A.T. might do now.

Presentation wise, I think the bat on ball sounds have again been updated. Yankee Stadium organ also seemed to have either had a new recording or they’ve put it through a new filter. Digging both the Show Network and regional updates, excited to sink my teeth into what the franchise elements add. Noticed on the stadium ribbon after a strikeout, they had the pitcher’s photo flashing next to the K flames. Heard some new broadcast lines, also unfortunately had one that repeated every few ABs. So, mostly good for me as a Presentation junkie but certainly not without room to improve. Storylines S3 is awesome as ever.
