Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions

Last night/this morning, I did what I normally do on launch day and simulated a season in Franchise to check out all of the bells and whistles.

Unfortunately, I couldn't for the life of me find how to view the Team History (which has historical records, total WS won, etc.). Does anyone know how to view this info?

The concern is, when guys are inducted into the Hall of Fame or a team wins the WS, there is no record of it moving forward.
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that was you are asking?
I’m in the CAMERA setting. How do I see the preview?

I've seen a few people annoyed by this and this truly astounds me.

Idk maybe because the game hasn’t made any progress in the graphics department for a long time and I spent $700 on a console and expect it to be on it and enhanced for it. You know what actually astounds me? People who are annoyed at others for expecting to get better for their money.

The lighting looks better than last year and it runs smoothly, so I’m not sure what the PS5 Pro enhancements would’ve done to make it look any better based on how the game looks on default. Its never been a cutting edge graphically demanding game (most sports games aren’t), but you still should see it run smoother/better.

Also it’s nonsense that Sony would put PS5 enhanced and then remove it once it was confirmed by SDS. Sounds like Sony trying to sell more consoles by putting it on games before it’s actually announced.

There’s a lot this game needs. The grass looks like carpet and bad, the textures are very low. Sadly, many console gamers only look at resolution as the most important thing. “Give me 4k” yes but the textures look like clay. The shadows are horrible. The list is endless. They could’ve even given us ps5 pro version with 120fps.

not a fan from my first few games. Same color pallets for equipment, barely noticed any new gear added (if anything). Same issues not being able to change correct parts/logos shoes.

I see way too many runners sliding head first into first base on routine ground balls. The new female announcers sound like they are screaming rather than announcing.

I do like the new scorebugs and how you can specifically set it to a region giving it a more home town feel. Animations are smooth.

Just seems like another year to me. Haven't dove into any specific game modes yet, only played exhibition games.

I agree, but that has less to do with the PS5 pro as it does with their graphics model in general. All of those things are capable of being done on the regular PS5 and the Pro would just scale it up for clarity.

The grass is definitely not 2D though this year. It’s much more noticable in replay and with closer batting cameras, but the grass and dirt texture are better. At a distance you aren’t going to see it though and I wouldn’t expect to since you don’t see it on a TV broadcast. Still not the greatest looking but better than before.

The biggest issues for texture blurriness for me are some of the stadium assets. Certain areas of the stadiums look great, then some signs and scoreboards are blurry and not detailed. It’s probably the part that’s most noticable during gameplay.

You are in the camera setting in the “Gameplay” settings, which is just a quick way to set it. For the full way to set cameras with a preview, go to settings and scroll down to “Cameras” (under Audio/Video). That’s where you can select while seeing the preview.

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions

This game is just soooo good for me. The game to me took a major step forward with the myriad of small legacy visual changes they made this cycle. I personally think this game is gorgeous

Animations still need love when players are running the bases (They look like they are on rails) and catcher framing and receiving particularly look dated. Also would like to see SDS find a way to get player models to bend at their core. it is very noticeable with pitchers and looks unnatural.

I am very happy with the batted ball sounds, and crowd reactions in big moments. However their could be some smoothing and more natural reactions on singles, walks, and strikeouts.

In my last game Hunter Brown was pulled at 5.2 IP and 88 pitches with a 3-0 lead.. Had 8 punchies but I was able to get two on. Astros went to Abreu which I thought was prudent given the leverage I had. Next inning they went left hander to counter my two hooks due up. He faced the two lefties and the switch hitting Ruiz then was lifted for a right hander for Dejong. I really enjoyed seeing that decision making.

My only take on the PS5 Pro discourse is that I agree it is most definitely not the big jump that the PS4 Pro was but I honestly didnt expect it to be. I simply loved the idea of the added horsepower to provide consistent 60 frames when the ball is in play. I have a PC and only use the Pro for MLBTS so I cant speak to what the console does or doesnt do for other games.

I am engrossed by this game so far. Great work SDS

You sure about that? Because I remember Bruce Bolt equipment being in 24 at early release.

Not saying all, but they added a bunch of new Adidas cleats early on last year and they overwrote the New Balance ones with the latest model. It might not be the case this year and I don’t even think it will happen, but I usually wait until the first actual week to see if any equipment gets updated since it’s happened the last two years.

It’s more annoying to me that they still didn’t fix the color blocking issue on some of the cleats they added the last two years since it makes editing them more difficult, especially the Adidas cleats.

I think the new brands often are in during early access in previous years, but it takes until the day 1 patch to get the updated models of brands currently in the game

I doubt we get new brands in the patch but probably some updated models for current brands

Okay played one game in franchise.

Gameplay and presentation, no issues. Lost the game 4-3. CPU wasn't easy to pitch against. Uniforms and player movements look improved.

Some weird things that may get patched in....

                            - zero shots of either bullpen during the game of pitchers warming up.

                            - zero shots of the dugouts during the game. Not one.

                            - pressing R3 to see the defense seems to be gone.

                            - in the schedule it says my team won the game, even though I lost and the standings says I'm 0-1.
