Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions
I dont know what it is but I dont think this years version is worth the $100 for early access and stubs and packs. Too much of the "same old same old" with this game.PSN: ckarlic

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions
The storylines, farm report, and league news pregame are very cool.
The game is BEAUTIFUL.
Dynamic camera has been improved.
Seems to be a glitch with the ticker when using regional theme.Last edited by jcar0725; 03-14-2025, 02:29 PM.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions
crowds still haven't been updated in this game.....Petco Park the crowd is STILL wearing Blue primarily. Its getting ridiculous now guys. Especially since the game is made in San Diego, shouldn't be hard to make the crowd wear brown/yellow or update their jerseys.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions
Now that they've tackled the uniforms and fields, I hope crowds are next. Not only are they not current/accurate with some teams like you said (still way too much red in Blue Jays games), the colors they wear are so dull compared to the colors on the players.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions
A few quick impressions after playing another game today:
- Goat hitting isn't a feasible option. Even on the slowest pitch speeds, there are entirely too many swings and misses, even when the cursor is on the ball and timing is fine.
- Goat pitching is definitely a touch harder, but nothing crazy. For me it's the only way to go. Strikeouts are harder to come by (though they're definitely able to earn) and the cpu will punish you for pitches left in the zone.
- fielding is improved.
- lighting and graphics are marginally improved.
- Sliders will need to be tinkered with. I'm using same sliders as 24 right now on Hof hitting (I took it off goat hitting as explained above) and the cpu throws too many balls using the same sliders I used last year. I'll share my sliders once I get them to a decent position in the slider forum.
- cpu bullpen usage seems a bit better in my limited play. Senga was at 84 pitches in the 5th inning up 2-0 but I had loaded bases and they removed him.
- weird thing I saw. I'm hitting. Bases loaded. Cpu throws a very high fastball. Catcher sticks his glove up to catch it. It ricochets off the glove, over the back stop and into the stands. Never seen this before. Looked kinda ridiculous.

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions
Just browsing through some season end stats and it does appear that bullpen use is much improved at the default sliders - because no pitchers with significantly more games played than games started show up in the season statistics top 100 for innings pitched (among both starters and relievers). That means that the starters who land in long reliever slots aren't being overused in the sims. <s> In one of the sims I did only one reliever barely went over 100 IP. </s> (see edit message) It'll take a while to really figure out why that's the case in individual games, but on a broad level it does look better.
However, there's probably going to need to be a balancing act with the hook and stamina sliders because complete games still look too high at the default. Moving stamina and hook will have the effect they did in previous years to cut this down, but extreme adjustments will re-introduce the LR problem because they'll be getting more innings from starters being pulled earlier.
All in all, I feel like we might have a better base to work from this year - the bullpen behavior at default is encouraging.Last edited by bcruise; 03-14-2025, 03:58 PM. Reason: Going to pull back on that statement because I missed a few penned starters in the 120-130 range. I still think it's better.Comment

Huge issue if it’s gonna happen after an error on the first at bat that leads to nothing but unearned runs .Last edited by ninertravel; 03-14-2025, 04:05 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 2025 Early Impressions
Only got to play about 5 innings last night. One thing I was hoping to be finally fixed was the "penalty" to stamina/confidence when using the Schedule to Pitch functionality and it still doesn't seem to be. I warmed up my pitcher, he was warm, selected Schedule to Pitch and he came in with an already lower stamina. This one really bothers me...Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Early Impressions
On another note, my Ps5 just shut down due to overheating and I was only playing the game for about an hour. First time that's ever happened.
