MLB 16 the Show: The Little Things Thread

Hey guys,

For those of you lucky enough to have the game already, can we start the "Little Things thread"? This is what Russell and the rest of the team excel in so let's dig in and see what we can find!

Did they fix the TEAM SABR stat problems? A teams SABR average's should not be a total of all 12 pitchers averages divided by 12 like last year (Example Component ERA should not be a total of ALL Component ERAs divided by 12).

THAT is a little thing they could fix.

LOVE this game! MOM player, noting one mildly annoying "Little Thing";

No team would hold a pitcher, or an extremely slow runner, on the bag at 1B with a left handed batter at the plate, and would not usually hold the pitcher period. Pitchers don't steal bases.

They also rarely would hold the runner at first on a 3-2 count with two out, since they know the runner is going on the pitch regardless. IRL you will see the 1B ask if if he should come off the bag and play behind the runner.

The CPU ALWAYS holds the runner at 1B in these situations, leaving a hole on the right side. because of it, and wanting to "play fair", I find myself forced to hold the runner so I don't get the unfair advantage. makes me wonder who the baseball "subject matter experts" are that are consulting for the game designers that would not have caught that; maybe it;s just logic they could not code in?

They only time the CPU does not hold the runner is when the game is a blowout, or they have a 5 run lead late in the game.

LOL,

Ok..in the MLB, pitchers RARELY attempt steals. Good find on that one though.

It wasn't hard. Maddux stole quite a bit. Any player with decent athleticism will if they're not being held on or paid attention to. The game does holding the runner pretty well overall. They play off in obvious situations, and hold on any other time. Real baseball is more dynamic, but you're not going to ignore a baserunner simply because they're a pitcher or slow. Stealing bases is a lot more about timing and jumps than it is pure speed.
