For those like me who can't view Facebook at work.

It's just marketing...doesn't really mean anything to me. 3 inning games are nothing new to anyone who's played DD, it's not like this took any of the precious development time that everyone seems to fret over if they extended it to an option in the whole game (that's not necessarily what they did, of course).Comment

Wasn't that the Franchise header " more Baseball, Less time? " or something along those lines.
I'm really hoping that they did more work on franchise mode this year other than just finding more and more ways to shorten gamesComment

At least for quite a while, yes. Which means they're either marketing an existing lesser-known feature, or they extended the option to franchise mode.
And either way, since the logic for how the CPU deals with 3-inning games was already in the game, it wouldn't have taken much time to add that functionality to franchise. I could see some major stat discrepancies between played and sim games cropping up in a situation like that, but I'm guessing the people who want 3 inning games aren't going to be ones worried about accurate stats.
Like I said before, this isn't even a thing to me and I don't know why people would worry about it taking away from other developments.Comment

I know it's been in the game for years, but who actually plays 3 inning games? I can't see any baseball fan wanting to do that. Pitch a complete game every time out? No need for relievers. It just seems silly. Especially with in-games saves being a thing for years now. Only have time for an inning or two? Just save and pick up where you left off later.Comment

See...it doesn't work like that. Pitcher stamina, among other things, are pretty heavily tweaked in those 3 inning DD games. You're not going to be throwing CG's all the time unless you get first pitch outs or run your starter into 0 energy - it's balanced to fit that length of a game.
I agree with the sentiment though. It's not the way I like to play (though I do play it in order to get through conquest and BR games). But they obviously feel it's a popular format across the entire playerbase because DD and BR are so successful.Comment

Meh. No interest in playing a 3 inning baseball game. The pitching matchups and the strategy involved in the grind of a 9 inning game are why I love baseball.Comment
