Teams putting in a reliever to start game

Noticed in my series with Texas that they didn’t start Matt Moore but instead started Matt Bush who had very low energy. I assume Moore had a bad start the game before and was benched but he had only one start prior. I hate when this happened in previous versions of the show. Seems like a legacy issue.

Hence the need for 30 team control. That, and poor trade decisions. Ugh.

Before going to the calendar every day, I go through all the teams rotations and make sure a 6th starter is in the LRP slot, or at least someone with enough stamina (over 45) that could "emergency" start.

Franchise SIM is dead. Find your favorite iterations and play it forever. Card games are whats "now" and games will cater in that direction and forget realism.

Just have fun and play :)

dont know if the OP is using default rosters but Texas did have Bartolo & J.Chavez in long relief.

Re: Teams putting in a reliever to start game

This has been in the game for some time. It has to do with a starter struggling usually. It's like when you get the screen pre-game, "Player X is struggling and has a 5.05 ERA, do you want to give him the day off?" They end up giving a guy a spot start. Problem is the guy the pick to be the swing starter is always a poor choice.

Cool idea, but poor implementation.

Re: Teams putting in a reliever to start game

There's a quote about this on OOTP's loading screens.

Quoting some manager, something like "Maybe I'll put in a reliever to start the game, and in the third inning I'll put in who I meant to start in the first place, and we'll just play that way."

Something tells me the second part of that isn't happening, though.
