Re: MLB the show 19 or BUST

Well, I hate to say it, but has SDS turned into EA Sports.. or just EA in their approach to this series... cash flow in the game, meaning microtransactions and grinding... come on... this is baseball not some single player first person shooter.

I can remember when this series was going up against 2K and was always getting better year after year. now that they are the only game in town... do they seem to care as much as they used too... well yes they do about their beloved DD mode and all that...

However,, for us franchise guys... that have played this game since the beginning and have never waivered... they make no real extra cash off us as they do the DD folks... so they care for that mode is not as important as the DD crowd...

This is why for years now I believe it would be greatly more beneficial to companies and players that they come out with two versions of the game... one for online only and one for offline only.

if they did him on separate discs they could VASTLY increase the amount of stuff put into each mode separately. think about this... do you REALLY think that DD and FRanchise get exactly 25 Gigs apiece on the disc they are currently on? I think it is more 35 Gigs for online DD mode and 15 Gigs for the franchise...

Re: MLB the show 19 or BUST

I keep seeing this talk about releasing two versions of the game, but how is that beneficial? First and foremost, it is the same number of developers working on the game in same exact time frame. You still have devs assigned to franchise, devs assigned to DD, devs assigned to RTTS, and devs assigned to gameplay. Releasing two different versions of the game doesn't change any of this. I don't think space is an issue as it is resources (time and developers)

And how is releasing two versions beneficial to the players? Especially those who like to play RTTS, DD, and Franchise? Are you really going to make them pay for two separate games just to play all the modes they want to play? And if you bundle it, are you really going to ask for those that want to play multiple modes to pay more than those that only want to play a single mode? And how is SDS supposed to draw in new customers when they would have to buy multiple versions of the same game, or pay more for a bundled version that includes all the modes?

And then what price point does SDS release these games at? How do they determine how many of each version to make? How do they offset the additional cost of marketing, packaging, and producing two versions of essentially the same game? I don't see SDS, or any video game company, cutting their profit margins to release two versions of the same game.

I keep seeing this idea of releasing two versions of the game and how it will magically solve all of the issues that the community has with the game, but I don't see it doing that. I actually see it creating more problems and running a HUGE risk of killing off any chance of attracting new customers.

As much as I agree with y'all, I don't think we're going to see any leaps forward until a third-party comes along and gets the third-party license. Is that going to happen...probably not as licensing is expensive, especially for sports leagues.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel though, Konami is developing a new Pro Yakyuu Spirits for a 2019 release. Yes, its Japanese baseball, but in the past the PYS-series offered the best gameplay, depth, etc..

I didn't know this! Huge news as I thought the series was dead, I will definitely be purchasing this next year.

GTA 5 online released in June of this year.... nearly 4 years AFTER the initial release of the regular/normal edition.

It also contains the offline experience for those that want to play it. It also includes the expansion and DLC that has been released over the lifespan of the game.

Apples and oranges my friend.

Re: MLB the show 19 or BUST

We need a deeper dynamic commentary and presentation. I watch a TON of baseball every year including the postseason and overall presentation for this game is way less than anything we see on tv or even listen to the radio during the season.

for example, every pitcher does not work at the same speed. we need extremely varied speeds for every pitcher in the game. we need way more cutscenes during games

if I were on the dev team for the franchise I would be taking copious notes while watching every game I could throughout the season. every time the camera changed to a cutscene or whatever. we need much deeper immersion.

taking notes on commentary every game stats overlays, how they talk about stats etc. etc.
