Number Crunchers, what's a good /ave/ poor SLG etc..

Hello all.
Realtivley new to MLB.
Wanting to grasp the stats more.
Went to a great site (fangraphs) which graded and quantified stats ie: AVR / OBP with a handy guide of....

Great
Above Average
Average
Below Average
Poor

But they didn't give a grade for SLG, OPS+, WHIP etc..
Could any one help.
Thank you very much

Anyone one with a WHIP around 1.15 would be classified as good.

A WHIP under 1.00 is elite

A WHIP from 1.25 - 1.35 is around average

However, it is also dependent on the ballpark... a pitcher for the Rockies who makes all their home starts in Colorado and has a 1.15 WHIP would be a great ratio for them.

OPS+: 100 is league average.

Anytime you see the “+” it is ballpark, era, and league adjusted. 110 is quite good, while 90 would be below average.

SLG: .440 is probably around average. Over .500 is definitely excellent. Under .400 is dreadful.

However, like WHIP, the ballpark a player calls home is a huge factor. A player for the Royals who slugs
.455 is pretty good.

Hope this helps

I would say it depends on position as well.

A 1B who slugs .450 is probably considered average/slightly below average, whereas a SS who slugs .450 would be considered pretty good.

I would take the more premium defensive positions (SS, C, CF) and give them a bit more leeway in regards to what you think is a good slugging percentage etc., especially if they play good defense.
