I hope you all are doing well! I’m trying to realistically choose a team for MLB THE SHOW 21 to control - as if the current owner sold the team - and would like you input as to which team I should realistically choose? Thank you to all who reply.

Re: WORST OWNER IN MLB
I definitely was thinking about them as Robert Nutting has proven to be completely inept at his decision making. Since 1990, the Pirates have only made the playoffs 6 times & have finished above .500 only 7 times & 4 times since 2000.Comment

Re: WORST OWNER IN MLB
They are definitely a possibility as John Fisher has consistently kept the payroll as one of the lowest and the stadium is an albatross. The idea of a possible relocation is intriguing.Comment

Re: WORST OWNER IN MLB
Baby Steinbrenner, hands up, pants down.
ONE World Championship in the last 20 years, and that was really George's World Series title.
Baby Steinbrenner may be his mother's son, but he ain't his daddy's.
all the resources one could hope for and the last 20 years have been the worst since pre-Babe.
maybe CBS would consider buying the Yankees back. except they were worse at ownership than Baby Steinbrenner
also, if you're going ''Owner'' Mode, don't forget to turn off GM Contract,
otherwise you're really playing ''General Manager'' Mode
what I do is when I play as a GM, I don't increase the budget, but when I play with GM Contract off, I will increase the budget
also also: WORST MLB GM - Brian Cashman - as above, so below -
''all the resources you could want and one World Championship title in the last 20 years''
that , is NOT Yankee beisbol
time for the Evil Empire to hire Theo lolLast edited by Caulfield; 06-12-2021, 05:23 PM.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

I guess I should have been more clear in my original post & my title - I was ACTUALLY looking for MLB teams that had the worst owner AND could possibly be on the brink of selling OR should ABSOLUTELY be considering it - Hal is NEVER going to sell the Yankees
I do appreciate your feedback and I have always enjoyed your insight when you have commented on others postComment

Re: WORST OWNER IN MLB
Peter Angelos of the Orioles. Not even close.
Orioles had the highest winning % of any team in baseball between 1960 and 2000. Since then, it’s been a total free fall (outside of 2012-16).
Despite never playing baseball in his youth, he made it a point to “personally approve” every roster move. He’s also notorious for overly strict physicals on players (see: Manny Machado’s knee). Unlike other bad owners he isn’t afraid to spend, but this just makes him worse because he dishes out terrible contracts left and right (Albert Belle, David Segui, CHRIS DAVIS, and on and on). Not many people realize the O’s were the last team not named the Yankees to have the highest payroll in the MLB (until the Dodgers in recent years). The end result of that 1998 team? 90 losses.
Fun fact: my mother was friends with a former Orioles GM’s wife. One thing that I will always remember is that when he was the GM (2000s) he NEVER ONCE was able to meet Angelos one on one. He also would try to make trades, signings, etc. and Angelos would shoot them down because “he thought the guy they were trading was a good person.”
This is also the same owner who personally befriended Fidel Castro and hosted an exhibition game vs. Cuba in Baltimore. After the game nearly the entire Cuban team “disappeared” before their return flight LOL.
I could go on for days.
IIRC Sports Illustrated named him the worst owner in all of sports.
Bad things happen when you let a personal injury lawyer buy a baseball team.Comment

The Orioles are definitely an organization I am thinking about because frankly - at his age - he needs to sell and release all controlComment

Re: WORST OWNER IN MLB
As an owner - I would DEFINITELY want to keep Story - the return is very rarely ever of equal value in any sport - especially baseball - in that you can’t trade draft picks
But I just don’t see a realistic scenario in which Story resigns with the Rockies - even at a Max contractComment
