maybe add some of your favorite training moments, stories, fight stories, etc.

i'm a juijitsu guy and seem to always get beat up, but come away from my spars/fights with a sub victory. my face is a mess as we speak but I came away with a 2nd round head and arm choke.

no worse for the wear i suppose. my wife doesn't agree

Re: How many of you guys train...and what does that look like for you

When I was freshman at college I took a few BJJ classes and went to some open mat sessions the MMA club had. But eventually school caught up to me and I had to focus on work. My favorite moment was pulling a flying arm-bar on one of the kids who lived on my floor. Granted he was probably 40 lbs lighter than me it was cool none the less.

No days off equals a big no no in my book. You need at least one day to let your body recover.

Over work your body and do more damage then good by not resting.

I don't do Jiu Jit-su since I'm not in competitions and I'd rather polish up other areas.

Wednesday's and Saturday's is my Karate/kicking boxing days and after the Karate/kicking boxing on Saturday's is boxing which I take.

Thursday is sparring and Muay Thai and Friday is sparring as well, might be kick boxing on Friday's, not sure.

So my schedule is usually

Monday - lift weights at home

Tuesday - nothing

Wednesday - Karate/Kickboxing

Thursday - Sparring/Muay Thai

Friday - Karate/kickboxing

Saturday - Karkate/kickboxing/boxing

Sunday - Nothing

We've been working like crazy on jump ropes and I'm good at it considering a guy my size, 6'3, 265lbs. I'm light on my feet but I need the jump roping to improve my stamina.

Muay Thai is great. I played soccer for 16 years and have great built up legs and tremendous power in them and Muay Thai fits the style to use the tools I have.

Upper body I need to work on, need more power in my right hand (I'm a southpaw).

Anyone that hasn't joined any gym to train, give it a shot or buy some equipment and train with a friend or 2, either do it in someones house or outside.

I joined L.A. Fitness years ago to get in shape but got bored of it. MMA is the way to go, you're getting in shape and learning self defense, it's a ton of fun

Re: How many of you guys train...and what does that look like for you

for sure. yeah, i definetly train hard but listen to my body.

jui jitsu is definetly my game. being 6'3", 170 lbs makes for some good submissions, rubber guard, etc.

i need to work on my boxing the most. i'm quick, but wouldn't be knocking anybody out if I ever acutally fought.

muay thai is solid. wrestling is ok. i'm working with an extremely good wrestler who has helped me use my lenghty-ness for leverage. being tall is great for a sprawl but tough to get low enough on doubles.

i second what holt is saying. i recommend training, even if it is at your home. if you do a lot of ground, your ears will get torn up a bit if you don't wear headgear. i don't just because i don't view it as a big deal, but some definetely do. i just train with 4 other guys. we all have different backgrounds (boxing, juijitsu, wrestling) and the guys who don't have much of a fighting background just work with us to get into shape and work their cardio. if you are at all interested in the sport, i definetely recommend just diving in...carefully of course. it will add confidence, get you in amazing shape, and if you take the attitude of training rather than "working out", you'll find yourself eating great, and you'll never feel better.

enjoy
