I miss these type of sim heads
I remember I read a college basketball 2k devs interview
Where they said they would look at the top rated sliders and plug it to global sliders
College basketball definitely needs to come back to light a fire under NBA 2k
Just look at EA college football put Madden on notice with the number 1 sales in sports game history
I can't believe I'm saying this but I bet you Madden. Gonna fight harder this year and see college football as a threat and not little brother

Zach Timmerman was working on BOTH GAMES simultaneously, doing like 5 jobs at once to make College 2K happen. Do you think 2K had another pop-up studio somewhere? You're romanticizing a literal skeleton crew that re-used countless in-house assets to make a game with a slim profit margin.

What game do you think the CH2K devs have been working on for the last 20 years? Do you think they stopped being 2K employees or something?

You seem to be more familiar with how 2K operates than most of us here on OS. In your opinion, what do you think it would take for the "last gen" team (if there is such a thing) to take over and handle a return to College Hoops after 2K drops the PS4/XB1 versions? It sounds like College Hoops developed on a shoestring budget. And even then it wasn't profitable enough. Not only that, but 2K was reportedly in a tight spot financially after All Pro 2K8. 2K is in a different space now.

Would it make more sense now than then for 2K to let another group of devs develop a College Hoops game, or just merge them with the larger NBA 2K team? Just wondering your thoughts.

I am not in the industry, and haven't kept any recent contact with those who are. I just get a chuckle when people speak in such platitudes.

We are in late-stage capitalism. Mass profits are the only thing that will dictate whether college basketball returns to gaming.

College Football is the 2nd most popular sport in the US. I used to work at a restaurant that would open up it's entire 2nd floor on Saturdays for College Football watch parties. About 200 people would show up weekly. People showing up in war paint. Girls in New York City showing up in cowboy hats and boots for whatever their alma mater was.

College Basketball doesn't draw like that. Maybe a particular March Madness matchup, but definitely not your average game. College Football being back is a step in the right direction for other NCAA video games, but how large of a step is an open question.
