The Crib

I remember from 2k7(and any other version it was in) on PS2, there was this thing called "The Crib" and it was really awesome. You could spend coins decorating your "crib" with posters, team balls, mini games and much more. Wouldn't it be awesome if they included this into 2K15. You would spend VC on decorations and then you could like walk around in it 3rd or 1st person and just chill and play mini games. It would act as a hub after you finish playing a mycareer game or the park.

Two years ago I would have been all for this, but seeing 2K14's corny story mode and VC taking over the game, I'd prefer they emphasize fixing the game play.

This would be a good alternative for the current dreaded vc model ... I mean, VC should be all into this and not within MyGM/Association modes ...

I would love somthing like having a personalize basketball half court on your crib, where you could invite friends to play 2 on 2, play minigames and trivias, look at your thropies of accomplishments obtained, a cinema mode like where you look at videos of you and/or your friends, recruit for my crew members, etc, etc.

Then again, lets wait and see how VC is addressed this time around and if they do indeed plan to catter to the ones they have been leaving aside the last few years ... just as they seem to have done with my crew guys on last gen.

Truth. NFL 2K5 had it right. They provided incentives (currency for 50 yard touchdown runs, winning awards, completing a player challenge) and it all went toward neat extra stuff within The Crib, which felt like a second home, complete with chilled out music and mini-games.

The best thing, of course, is that it was totally optional. No one had to save up currency in 2K5 so as to unlock a piece of real simulation football. No one had to buy wrist bands, no one had to buy the ability to negotiate with free agents better, and no one was even allowed to buy NFL2K points with real life money.

What we had was a game that strove to make itself as realistic and authentic as possible in the NFL realm. Great gameplay, cut scenes, authentic general managing, weather, Sportscenter, Draft Previews, classic teams, Top 25 NFL moments and more. Then, for the random fun of it, 2K created a separate entity, The Crib, where players could live out a little bit of their fantasy and cash in on their achievements. It was actually pretty legit. I enjoyed trying to reach certain achievements to buy myself a flat screen TV or theatre. I guess I took it for granted that something like that wouldn't seep into NFL (or in this case, NBA) authenticity and simulation.
