Re: Ratings discussion thread (official roster)

Someone might need to check their clock if Whiteside was only supposed to have 15min of fame.

How long will it last. I'm speaking up cause he's having a spurt of good games even in blowout losses, and I'll be here when he has his string of bad game too.

KCP is easily the best Pistons defender. Yet his perimeter defense is rated a C-. Watch his footwork and contest recovery on James Harden http://youtu.be/Vj4nB5tc6kE

Great, hopefully you can also remind us how Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, DeMarcus Cousins, Nikola Vucevic, Derrick Favors, Andre Drummond, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh have good games in blowout losses once they have a bad game!

Re: Ratings discussion thread (official roster)

Some of yall sound like you are wishing Whiteside to be bad lol just to prove a point that his rating shouldn't have been upgraded. His rebounding rate and blocking rate even as a raw big was very good when he was on the Kings. This was after he came back from missing a year with an ACL injury. What he has added since a few years appear to be maturity strength and a little confidence and one or two post moves.

He has size you can't teach he is a very quick leaper and is very long 7'-7" wingspan with a 9'-5" standing reach above average hands and prototypical NBA center size. His size, speed, length, hands, will make him an elite rebounder and shot blocker so I don't really see his rebounding or shot blocking coming down by much. Plus he is on a team where the other big is Bosh shooting 3's and stretching the floor and Bosh isn't a great rebounder, no one on their bench is an elite rebounder actually most of their bigs are really past prime (Haslem, Birdman).

I have never seen any fluke elite rebounders and shot blockers. If you are good at rebounding and blocking shots it shows and it lasts until you are physically unable to do so like an injury. It isn't like shooting where you may get hot and have a hot stretch of games. The elite shot blockers and rebounders who can't get time on the court are the ones who can't do anything on offense or they have someone that is better than them starting and we already seen all you have to do is throw the ball up and he will get it. The only way I see his shot blocking decreasing if people stop challenging him at the rim.

From a raw prospect standpoint he is on the same type of curve as DeAndre Jordan they are about the same age and both were extremely raw. Jordan came out a year earlier 2nd round pick maybe a better athlete but Whiteside is just a longer athlete with quick timing. I actually think Whiteside has surpassed DeAndre even with a small NBA sample size because he had less NBA actual time to develop and Jordan is pretty much is what he is at this point after seeing plenty of minutes for years.

Re: Ratings discussion thread (official roster)

Whiteside: 20 points, 17 FGAs, 0 turnovers, 30 minutes.
No Wade.
Heat win.

He only had 9 rebounds though. What a scrub! He'll be a 3rd string again in a month.
