This 100%. But so many 2k loyalist can’t take any criticism on these forums, as if they own stock in 2k. Now that the dust has settled and we’re getting new videos, it looks just like a port with better lighting and more atmosphere.
And with regards to the slander against PC players like myself, I’d just like to say that I’m not trying to flex that I have a pc that allows me to mod, I’m just pointing out the capabilities that have been available to 2k for years, yet we see little to no progress with regards to certain art assets. How can you make Kobe your cover athlete and have a ridiculously bad player model for one of the most beloved players of all time ?
How can these 16 year old kids in the Philippines with no access to any of 2k’s resources make better/more accurate player models, faces, uniforms, courts, fans, accessories, cloth physics, etc...than an actual 2k employee ? My critique of this next gen trailer is more of an indictment on the lack of progress the 2k art team has failed to make. Player models are comically bad.
Some people think the art direction is “fine” or “good enough”. Well that mindset in accepting mediocrity is how we got the same next gen madden for 8 years. Props to 2k on the lighting and some faces, but player models are still horrible.

1: Those higher quality art assets would only work on PC current gen where the user can choose render settings. To maintain a consistent framerate on consoles you get what they give. I'll say that they should have added more body models by now but there are 450 nba players and that isnt a reasonable expectation.
2k on PC is a port. For good reason. they arent going to put money into the sector that sells the least amount of games. it's not even close actually. I'm just happy there is a PC game.
2. For every PC cyberface mod that is awesome, there are 5 that look terrible. Everyone of those creators think theirs are the best so it's pretty subjective. the difference is you get to pick and choose which one you like the best. Seriously go look through 2kspecialists thread. A lot of those body models are just straight bizarre. Again the creator thinks that's what it should look like so I'd say again its subjective.
Also good creators put out what, 10, 15 maybe at most 20 cyberfaces a year, why? because it takes a long time to make each one. 450 players in the NBA. I know we all expect endless resources for the money 2k earns but it's not reasonable.
3. All the other enhancements ie lighting sweat, etc. Those lighting mods are pretty subjective as well. read the comments you will have some that like some that dont. Even if there was one that was universally considered better, those lighting mods can be taxing on PC. Again 2k makes this game for console which needs regulated standards for framerate stability.
For sweat and global mods, I'll be honest, I'm personally not a fan of most of them as I dont think they look realistic but again its subjective.
I'll leave it at this. You arent wrong that 2k could make the game look better. Just because they can doesnt mean it makes sense though. You have to remember they made the game for console. I dont know what kind of PC setup you have but imagine you have a mid level PC. Now turn the graphics settings up to a place that's higher than what your PC is capable of handling and try and play the game. It would be a mess.
The slander to PC comment was made by me and honestly it was a flippant comment I didnt mean to take as seriously as some people did, and for that I apologize. The funny thing is all I play this game on is PC and the reason is it's so much better with mods. I j6st think its disengenous to claim 2k is basically mailing it in from watching this 2 minute trailer because of what your PC version looks like to you.
To expect 2k to ever implement what is capable on PC as the standard is not going to happen.
