when you call Kareem a GOOD player you don't know what you're talking about, you don't know basketball

Allow me to amend my statements then. I believe Kareem is a legend, and deservedly so. A great player who literally changed how people play and defend his position. I just don't think he would be as good in todays game, and especially without the cast he had around him. Let's be honest - his teams at some points were amazing.

I won't say the same for Wilt, but I will concede he was awesome. Something tells me that no matter how dominant he was then, it was largely in part to the caliber of play. I could be way off, though. Who's to say he wouldn't be a gym rat and a student of the game and crush people?

I just think Hakeem would play better in today's game, and could also dominate in older eras. Also I think his defense sets him apart from other people on our list. He is on another level in that regard.

I think I know basketball pretty well, but I am rather biased.

you're just using cliches to back your claims without even presenting any solid proof, just saying stuff because...

Kareem played against Wilt, Thurmond, Unseld, Willis Reed, Elvin Hayes, Cowens, Walton, Moses, Parish, Sampson, Ewing, Daugherty, Dawkins... should I go on? now tell me who would he faced today that's so special to stop him, what do today's players have to stop him?

at 38 (38!) he dropped 40+ (on a high fg percentage, not to mention the times he "only" dropped 30) a couple of times against a much younger, much more athletic Hakeem, with Sampson for that matter, the guy you've said to be the best, able to dominate in any era... so if a really old Kareem was able to do that against him, it pretty much kills your only point, if you ever had any... and do you think Kareem was not also a defensive beast when he was younger?
if you think you know basketball, you're not thinking right

"I've watched Kareem, he was a good player"

you're just using cliches
Show me where I used one. A single one.

I respect your opinion dude, I really do. I'm not trying to refute yours either, nor am I trying to convert you to agree with mine. Clearly you don't respect mine. No need to try and argue and resort to calling me a liar and such.

I now know to not voice anything I disagree with you about on these forums. I was very magnanimous in my reply and you still go at it like a dog with a bone.

Sorry you're butt hurt.

clearly saying Kareem wouldn't be able to play today because big men are more athletic and so on is a cliche... even more when you don't back it up, just because you said so

when did I say you're a liar?

now you just staying off topic, can't back your claims? I backed mine, seems like you can't refute my claims no more and resort to saying I'm butt hurt... seems like you're butt hurt because you just said stuff you can't even back up
when you say Kareem wouldn't be as good as he was then say Hakeem would because he was so dominant and a defensive beast, I just gotta say Kareem lit him it up a fair amout of times when he was way past his prime pushing like 38 years old and well you know Hakeem was an athletic freak and a defensive beast

Kareem, without a shadow of a doubt to me. I don't wanna say clearly but it's almost that.

Re: Hakeem Olajuwon or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Some of us older guys might point out that Jabbar/Alcindor played the first five years of his career in an era when Dunks were not allowed. It was called offensive goaltending. That has to figure in his stats somehow.

Re: Hakeem Olajuwon or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Something tells there's going to be a lot of twentysomethings or thirtysomethings that are going to be in shock to see a 6'8" Willis Reed or Dave Cowens or Wes Unseld manhandle some of their current centers once the game comes out.
It's called knowing the game
