edit: despite the complaints...all you had to do was adjust five sliders and 2k4 wouldve been gold***check the slider forum***
Wow, you STILL think that? 2k4 was utter tripe, IMHO. Every team played the same, no matter what slider you used it would not have fixed that problem.

2k5 better have fixed the problem, or Live 2005 will be better, no matter how much Visual Concepts improves in other areas.

As for the No Gimmicks No Fluff comment, I have to laugh, because last year, ESPN NBA Basketball's main selling point WAS all gimmick and fluff and nothing of substance. They better show they're actually sticking to this motto.

no doubt all teams played the same...but it was still playable if you wanted it to be

all you had to was turn up off awareness for the cpu...it was a harder game on superstar

2k4 was the base....obviously it was a new engine, and they released it half arsed imo...all the improvements that are shown in the lastest videos, you can clearly play 2k4 and see some rements of it there...so it wasnt like the game was full fledged "arcade"

in closing, 2k4 didnt live up to the hype...but it was still a playable game

Ok, I'll agree that it may have been playable for some, but it wasn't "gold" as you had put it.

Re: No Gimmicks, No Fluff?

While 2K4 is all we've got to go on, I don't know why everybody keeps bringing up 2K4 in debating whether 2k5 vs. Live is going in 2k5's favor. 2k4 was last year. Put it this way. Fans of 2k2 and 2k3 will ALL agree 2k4 was so different from those titles that it could've come from a new company and nobody woulda noticed similarities to SEGA's products(outside of great graphics). People seem to think that 2k5 has to resemble 2k4 to a moderate extent. I disagree. From videos it's clear that 2k5 is a totally different game, with no genetic similarities to 2k4(sorry about using weird terminology).

2k5 actually HAS playsets(HUGE improvement to 2k4), isomotion that isn't a piece of horse crap(jumpstop button, many many variations, not one cammed animation in 2k4, post moves that are AWESOME, unlike 2k4's nonexistent post moves/game, isomotion air(2k4 didn't have it), off the ball movement(as proven by videos), the next movement so players play more lifelike(2k4 was a JOKE in that area), and EVEN 24/7 looks and sounds better, with fun items unlike last year(warmup pants), and more player control as evidenced by next movement, isomotion2, post up game, etc. And were not even to the Association yet.

I know fans like to make light of games so called gimmicks, but lets face it, to call Live's features gimmicks or vice versa is an attack on either game, these games are supposed SIMS, but it's a video game, and there's always an element of non sim, whether it be ice skating players across the floor, free agent bugs in franchise(Live and 2k4), abusable moves(freestyle, and espn's poor slider settings out of the box) and so called gimmicks(24/7 and ASW).

Just because some of us actually value facets of either game over the other doesn't automatically make one fans game gimmicky and the other not. It's all about the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure!" Both games look good, lets all get along and hope for 2 good games, and once released, let the reviews roll in.

I forgot which video it was but I think it was the Sixers and I saw someone cut off of an off-the-ball screen. God damn that was hot.
