Thats what i like about this years game, is the blown calls. I like the fact that it happens in real life all the time, and it happens in the game.

Yes, this is the best way to defend the deep ball. Too many times I've tried for the INT only to get burned by the WR who either leaps up over me to catch the ball, or my DB doesn't jump high enough. Unless you have a clear shot at an INT, use the swat button to knock it down; it works most of the times and even if you miss you can still make a tackle as soon as WR catches the ball. In a few cases when the latter happens, I was able to cause a fumble.

So the trick is to be aggressive, but not too aggressive.

I think the thing is that the swat button timing is different on the deep ball with this year's game. Last year I was able to defend it very realistically, but I'm having trouble this year. I'm trying some different things and hoping that I can figure out something.

The good news is this is about the only gripe I have... so far... hooray!

Yup me too! I used to swat all day last year. The timing must be different because I've been left shaking my head most of the time this year. Let me know if you figure it out. I've been just trying to time my hits?

I just take control of my Db's and keep the receivers below the coverage and when the qb throws it I swoop in. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

With the swat button, I noticed I have to hit it a little sooner this year. I don't know if the animation is a little longer to develop or what, but since i started hitting it a fraction of a second before I did last year, I've had some good success.

Key is HOLDING the left trigger DOWN all the way til the ball is on the ground. Don't just pull the trigger quick, you have to keep it held down for best results in breaking up the pass.

But, it's still the toughest part of the game.

I usually play as the safety if I think the CPU is passing. I play as a linebacker if I think they are running. Using the safety is the best way I've figured to defend the pass. You can also time big hits right to jar the ball loose.
