Well for starters, WR will actually catch passes.

What else should I look for?

The deep pass is way too easy.

Some stuff that leaps immediately to mind:homefield advantage is toned down a bit, there are now impact players who can take over games, and much improved graphics (colors seem bolder, and the tiny jersey number issue from 2005 has been fixed).

Agreed. It is too easy and sliders only help but not eliminate the problem.

As soon as you get the game, increase the knockdown slider to 99 for both sides on all levels (Heisman maybe only 75 for the CPU). This will help. Human QB accuracy is also too high on all levels and should be dropped to less than 40 on pretty much every level. It helps to reduce the ease of the deep ball.

Re: Still playing 2005, tell me what to expect

Online is still the usual EA crap unless you join a league. I usually put this game up after football season but being in a league makes it so much more fun, especially if you like playing with random teams.

I think it's alot better than 05 though, well worth the 20-30$ the game cost now.

What should you expect?

Misery. Frustration. Anger. An overwhelming feeling that you just wasted 50 bucks and an hour of your time playing a game.

Seriously, the CPU playcalling and deep ball in dynasty mode are pure garbage. I finally got fed up with it back in December when I was losing a game by 2-3 touchdowns, one minute left, I'm out of timeouts, the CPU is in third-and-8 ... and lobs a 65-yard TD pass.

Before the receiver could complete his celebration, my system was turned off, the disk taken out and Madden was put back in.

I'm playing in an NCAA league now just for the camraderie, but I've been disappointed by the last two NCAA games and I'm not going to be nearly as geeked for 2007.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice ...
