XBOX: Support 720p?

Pretty simple question, I could use an answer. Thanks!

Does the XBOX support 720p for NCAA Football 07?

If anyone could tell me the difference between 480p and 720p (as seen by the human eye, I mean - just noticeable better or anything) that'd be great too.

Re: XBOX: Support 720p?

The Xbox should support 720p. "True" HD doesnt really start until 720p. 480p is like what a DVD plays in...and a normal DVD looks NOWHERE near as good as a high-def TV program. I would say the difference, as far as TV shows go, is very significant....for videogames, im sure there is a difference...but im not sure how much it stands out.

The xbox supports 480p, 720p and 1080i, however most xbox games do not support anything above 480p, which is what you get with NCAA '07.

Re: XBOX: Support 720p?

Thanks, I have a 50'' LCD HDTV and was wondering if it was worth dropping $40 on component cables to see 720p for this game (as a few jaggies are visible, but if there was any noticeable improvement they'd be virtually eliminated). Anyone else have any thoughts? All are appreciated!

EDIT: Above poster - so NCAA 07 only goes to 480p? If so, thanks - you just saved me $40

i dont think the original xbox supports 1080i. 480p and 720p

xbox ncaa07 is 480p. the 720p game support is very very limited.

Yes it supports 1080i, there are only a handful of games that actually use it.

The Xbox does support 1080i, but only on a few games, like Enter the Matrix, MX Unleashed and MX vs. ATV Unleashed. There's a complete list at

If you're playing with the composite cables (Yellow, Red, White) on your LCD then you are not getting the full potential that the Xbox can over, and it is very much worth the money. There is a huge difference between 480i and 480p, 480i is what you would get using the regular composite cables, and it is no where near as crisp or detailed as 480p is. Also 480p is no where near as crisp and clean as 720p or 1080i.
