Interesting Coaching decision...

This evening in my Gator Dynasty I played the World's Largest Cocktail party against Georgia. The game was pretty much identical to last year's real life game, with UF scoring two TD's in the first half to be up 14-0 and then Georgia scoring 10 in the second half for a final score of 14-10.

The interesting thing was this. With two minutes left, Georgia had driven all the way down to my 13 yard line and faced a 4th and 1. They went for it and picked up the first down with a counter to the left. However, the play was negated by holding and Richt sent out the FG unit. Georgia nailed the FG, but one of my players was called for roughing the kicker, 15 yard penalty. The options were to take the penalty and have first and goal at the 8, or decline and keep the points on the board. I was stunned when they declined the penalty and kicked off to me! They had all three time outs left, but I was able to pick up a few first downs and run out the clock to seal the game.

I was baffled by the coaching decision...I imagine Richt is getting roasted in Athens.

It's a programming mistake. I had the same thing happen in my first dynasty game against WVU.

I dont think its an "error". Maybe he wanted to go for the safe FG rather than risk a fumble or TO. Did UGA have alot of turnovers in the game?

No coach in his right mind would give up 1st and G when down 7 to turn around and kick the ball off with under 2 minutes.

Not really. They had lost one fumble and that was it. I at least expected and onside kick after he declined the penalty, but they kicked it off normally.

I have had this happen 3 or 4 times. It is a programming error.

Yep I had it happen on a 4th and 1 on the 10 yard line, with plenty of time on the clock! It is a programming mistake!

Not really a programming error 95% of coaches will not take points off the board, Its just not a smart idea to take points you already have for a chance at losing those points.
