Players going pro

When you try to convince somebody to stay in college. Do the points you use count against your recruiting for that offseason? Or are they seperate points?

They count against your points for recruiting - but only for the first week of recruiting (there are 5 weeks total) After the first week - you get those points back to use on new recruits.

so I need to be careful as to only use a few of those points. Or I could be screwed in recruiting. My last two 2 recruiting classes were 15 guys and under. I am desperate to bring in a 25 man class. I'll need all the points I can get.

If you're only getting 15 man classes, you're either wasting time going after recruits you have no chance of getting, or you're spending too many points with sending the house and head coach visits. I've actually gotten commitments out of players after a single phone call. It's not going to happen all the time, but it's possible.

If you don't have enough points, you can either

1) win a few more games
2) allocate a greater percentage towards recruiting

Also, you have to target in-state recruits if you want to get a lot of guys, especially if you are not a high prestiget eam. In-staters only cost 15 points to "send the house" versus something like 24 or 32 for out of state recruits. I can't stress it enough...recruiting in-state is crucial.

Also, target 2 and 3 star players in addition to the 4 and 5 star guys. A guy who isn't very good is better than an empty roster spot. There is no reason you shouldn't sign 20 players/class if you recruit intelligently.

Re: Players going pro

I tried going with more recruits centered around my state during last recruiting season. I didn't really go for 2 star's mainly 4 and 3 star players. With some 5's mixed in. I'll try to go for some of the lower tier players early on to see if I can land them.
