I do this too. This season I moved up from #6 with some guys that I seem to have a good shot at landing now, but if you're lower than that you're probably screwed right off the bat and can focus your points elsewhere. Additionally, I also generally dump players who show poor discipline ASAP since I don't want to bring in guys who'll be troublemakers. I think I've only brought in 1-2 over 2 years of recruiting. Sometimes it hurts to drop guys who look like they'll be studs, but I figure it'll pay off in the long run.

I've been able to land guys who I started out last on their list. The reason is I play as Northern Iowa a 1-AA team and I know I only have a shot a getting 2-3 guys tops so when I put points in I only put points in maybe 5 guys tops, this means I'm giving them 15-20 minimum from the get go, some seem to dig this and I've been able to land a few 5* recruits although I've only landed them from my pipeline states.
